Mental health and bereavement support matter to everyone. But for the Deaf community, communication challenges can make accessing these vital services even harder. 💔

At White Rose Funerals & Memorials, we’re committed to changing that. 🌹 As proud members of the Disability Cross Party Group in the Welsh Parliament, Under the leadership of Mark Isherwood MS; we’re working to ensure the needs of the Deaf community are heard and addressed and hopefully a Campaign Launched in Support of the Deaf community bereavement needs.

We’re training our team in BSL (British Sign Language) and empowering other frontline professionals—like coroners, bereavement officers, and mental health nurses—to do the same. Together, we can create a world where communication is never a barrier to care. 💬❤️

At White Rose Funerals & Memorials, we're committed to revolutionising the funeral industry by going beyond traditional services. We’re leading the way in su***de prevention and intervention training for all our staff, ensuring we can spot the signs of those at risk and offer immediate support. With nearly 5,000 su***des each year in the UK, it’s crucial we do more. We're also proud to provide Deaf Sign Language training to ensure all families feel heard and supported.

We’re looking to launch a national campaign with our friends and allies to inspire other funeral directors to follow suit, creating a more compassionate, proactive industry that prioritises mental health and support for all.

Bullying can have devastating consequences. Whether it's physical, verbal, or online, prolonged bullying can lead to feelings of isolation, hopelessness, and despair. It significantly increases the risk of mental health issues like depression and anxiety, which can sometimes lead to thoughts of su***de. That's why it's crucial to take bullying seriously, provide support, and create safe spaces where young people feel valued and heard. A little kindness can save lives. Let's make a difference by listening and offering help.

29.11.2024 we hold our Bereavement and Mental Wellbeing conference in The Angel Hotel will be a huge step towards further supporting our community.

White Rose Funerals & Memorials is leading the way in addressing the critical issues of bereavement and su***de prevention.

Our speakers will be covering a range of issues and opening up a space to discuss more in the future. The conference is a platform to discuss issues and propose changes to the industry and to the public. Some of the issues include su***de prevention and bereveamnt aftercare improvements; subsidisatoin for su***de related funerals for low income families, training and support for the NHS to be better equipped to support those who are deaf; advice for the services on how to hadle faith-specific grieving and funeral traditions, proposing 24hr cremations to be made logistically availabe to support faith funeral customs, how to better support the staff exposed to death and experiences that challenge their mental health, the new medial examiner services, issues related to care of the desceaed in funeral directors’ care and many more issues. This all ties to further discussions of the Covid19 impact and life post-covid.
