We'd like to say a big hello to all past, current and new patients of Wellness Pharmacy! 💊👨‍⚕️

First of all we'd like to say a big thank you to Phil Bullen for all his amazing and hard work looking after the local community of St Mellons. Good luck and enjoy a well earned retirement from pharmacy 🍾

I'd like to introduce ourselves as the proud new owners, Tom Harries and Ed Jones.

Tom will be running the pharmacy full time and has experience of running a community pharmacy in East Cardiff.

We have been undergoing some refurbishment work in store, expanding the pharmacy and installing 2 brand new consultation rooms to offer our wide range of NHS and private services. We have now rebranded the pharmacy and are up and running with services.

Our NHS services can be accessed by all Welsh patients. We welcome you to explore our brand new website, listing the range of services available and to book appointments 🩺📲

We have been collaborating with Brynderwen & Minster Surgeries to promote services available and referrals into our prescribing clinics. There are business cards available from the pharmacy and surgery listing our details. We'd like to thank the surgery for welcoming us to the community!

35 years ago I qualified from Portsmouth School of Pharmacy with a 1st Class honours degree and began my career as a pharmacist.

I trained in the Co-Operative Pharmacy Group and became a manager for them, after which I spent a year as a pharmacist in the Royal Gwent Hospital. I then became a self-employed locum.

In 1997 I purchased Old St Mellons Post Office from my parents and opened my own Pharmacy.

It’s now been 27 years since I began trading in the village and I’ve have had a wonderful time getting to know the residents and surgery staff and serving you all.

It is with both excitement and slight nervousness that I can inform you that from July 1st I will no longer be your local pharmacist.

I’M RETIRING. YEY!

I’m leaving the pharmacy in the very capable hands of Mr Tom Harris, currently of Hopwoods Pharmacy, who has great plans for the business and will be providing a range of exciting new services.

I would like you all to thank with me Katrina Bridgeman, our beloved pharmacy technician. Trina has been my absolute rock over the past 24 years - without her amazing ability and loyalty I couldn’t have managed the business.
She has been by far the best technician I have ever worked with, and has become my ‘work wife’ over the years (company HR would cringe at some of our conversations 😂) I will miss her dearly.

Trina, as many of you know, is currently unwell, but rest assured she will be back serving you in a few months time.

I want to also thank Jo our delivery driver who has always gone above and beyond in helping out wherever he can!

Many of you have expressed what an amazing pharmacy we are - but the praise has to go to these two fabulous individuals!

Tom is inheriting some superb staff!

Finally I would like to thank all of you , our wonderful customers for your continued support over so many years, many of you I class as friends!

Please continue to support your local pharmacy and give Tom, Trina & Jo all the support they deserve.

I’m sure I’ll see you all around.

We know how important it is for young people to be able to access mental health and emotional wellbeing support when needed.

That’s why we created The Hangout in partnership with Platfform.

The Hangout is a mental health and emotional wellbeing support and activity hub for young people aged 11-18. It can be found at 26-28 Churchill Way and is open every day from 3pm to 9pm.

There have been several cases of slapped cheek syndrome identified. Here's what to do if you are a parent of a child and have concerns. You do not usually need to see a GP for slapped cheek syndrome. There are some things you can do to ease the symptoms.

Most acute illnesses get better within a few days and don’t need antibiotics! There’s no need to contact the surgery straightaway either. Think self care first, with over the counter painkillers and if things don’t improve the next step is to call into a local community pharmacy. They can help with minor ailments and provide appointments (sometimes walk in) with a community pharmacist under the NHS Choose Pharmacy Scheme.
