As the Infected Blood Inquiry report is published, we would like to remind people that there is a free home testing service in Wales that you can use to test for blood borne viruses.

Individuals should consider getting a test if they received a blood transfusion prior to September 1991, and have not previously been tested for a bloodborne virus.

For people who received a blood transfusion prior to September 1991, the risk of having acquired an infection is very low, but people concerned about their risk, can access a free and confidential test for Hepatitis C and HIV from Public Health Wales.

A measles outbreak has been confirmed in Wales.

Measles is highly infectious and can be very serious. The only way to prevent large outbreaks is through high uptake of the MMR vaccination (2 doses).

The Easter Bank Holiday is fast approaching which means your GP practice will be closed for four days. Please ensure you have enough repeat medication.

If you are due to order your repeat prescription, the bank holiday and period of Industrial Action by Junior Doctors (25th – 29th March) may mean it will take a little longer.

Please allow 48 -72 hours for your repeat prescription to be processed.

Spiking is giving someone alcohol or drugs without them knowing or agreeing. It can put someone at greater risk of injury, theft, or assault.

We need to know about every possible spiking so we can investigate, even if no other crime has taken place.

Spiking is a challenging offence to investigate. Drugs pass through the system quickly and there is often limited evidence to identify offenders, which is why early reporting and testing is key.

See our website for more information on what spiking is and how to report it to us (link below 👇)
