Sir Julian Hartley is stepping down as Chief Executive of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with immediate effect.

Dr Arun Chopra, Chief Inspector of Mental Health, is planned to assume the role of Interim Chief Executive until a permanent successor is appointed.
