We've created this tool which let's you create a card that students with DLD can give to their teachers. Helps our young people with DLD to advocate for themselves. And gets the information to more teachers.

Go to below and create your own.

If you are busy today (like us), bookmark this for later. Sit down with the young person with DLD and talk to them about what they want their teachers to know.

Calling all people who stammer (aged 16+)

Keira, one of our brilliant ASC Youth Panel members and a third-year student at the University of Liverpool, is leading important research into how stammering shapes experiences in primary, secondary, and higher education.

You can take part through email interviews, diary entries, or questionnaires, and you don’t need to do every part to be involved.

As someone who stammers herself, this project is close to Keira’s heart and aims to make education more inclusive for people who stammer.

DLD is a difficulty with understanding and using words and sentences.

Interacting in conversation requires those same skills, and often at a fast rate, and often in groups. It comes as no surprise that DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) therefore impacts on friendships.

That doesn't mean that people with DLD can't have friends. When friends understand about DLD and can talk with the person with DLD and agree what strategies help that makes a big difference. And when we say 'strategies' it can be something as simple as waiting a bit longer for the person with DLD to respond.

And when more people know about DLD, the world can change for those with DLD.
Help us to change the world for people with DLD!
