We’re headed to Japan, somewhere I’ve never been but have always wanted to visit!

I’m going to try really hard to turn my work brain off, be in the moment, and absorb this new experience, so responses will be slow on my end (who knows, I might even log out of my work account?? 😱 we’ll see lmao)

Things I learned about myself at the

• Imposter syndrome hit me really hard at first, but throughout the two days I realised I had just as much right to be there as everyone else. I work in this field, this expo was for me!

• I know more than I let myself believe. I spent a whole year in uni studying for my massage therapy qualification. I learned from an instructor with 25+ years in the industry who taught us from all sorts of modalities and really made us think about different ways of approaching issues. There’s a lot stored up in this big ol’ head of mine!

• I’ve been holding myself back. This plays in with the imposter syndrome, but I’ve been overthinking my services, what moves I perform on the table, and what I *think* my clients will want from me. It’s held me back professionally and honestly I think with some client progress as well. I have these tools in my toolkit, and I haven’t been using them for very silly reasons.

Basically the Therapy Expo helped remind me that I’m actually pretty freaking good at what I do, and my desire to help you guys thrive is even more on fire than it was before! ✨

When was the last time you scheduled in some INTENTIONAL rest?

I’ve been pretty open about struggling to slow down lately and I am 100% guilty of taking breaks that aren’t actually breaks. Sitting down to enjoy my cup of tea, then in the blink of an eye it’s 20 minutes later, I can’t remember a single thing I just scrolled past other than the snippet of a song that’s now stuck in my head, I’m feeling riled up rather than rested, and my tea is cold. Where did the time go? How did that happen?

We are all so busy but we NEED to give ourselves a break. If we don’t, that’s when things start to go wrong. Aches that are persistent or magnified, forgetfulness, irritability, and that’s *before* we start talking about more serious things like digestion issues, high blood pressure, the risk of heart attack…

I’m not trying to scare or guilt you into coming for a treatment. I’m trying to remind you that you need and DESERVE some intentional rest. Away from social media, emails, to-do lists. Time for you to come back to YOU by helping your nervous system come out of fight or flight and into balance.

Gentleness doesn’t mean turning your back on all of your responsibilities. But it CAN mean

• Putting your phone down for 10 minutes
• Letting yourself drink your morning coffee uninterrupted before it gets cold
• Deciding that the email *can* actually wait until tomorrow
• Booking that massage you’ve been putting off 💜

You need to slow down and rest so your mind and your body can keep going. Carve out that time for yourself, whether it’s 5 minutes in your kitchen or 90 minutes on the massage table. I’m here to help 🍁

We could get into the science of the nervous system to explain what goes on when we don’t take the time to rest and recover OR I could remind you that you literally NEED rest to survive.

Rest is time to reset the balance - to come out of fight or flight, to let our muscles recover, to allow our minds to process everything we’ve been taking in - so that we can *keep going*.

Don’t wait until you’re exhausted. Plan some intentional rest time for yourself and let me know how it goes 💜
