Advanced Language Skills: NLP is so much more than a bunch of techniques!
Sure, I love the fast change work, but the techniques only work well as a result of the language skills of the Practitioner facilitating. We talk about how: "Precise Language leads to Precise Results" vs "sloppy language leads to inconsistent results". So language is key to successful change.
Most are not taught enough about language and how every time we open our mouth to communicate we are influencing the thinking (or Internal Representations) of those we communicate with. Most Coaches are not taught about the Unconscious Mind and the fact it's these patterns/programmes outside of conscious awareness that are really running the show. Therefore Coaches need to understand how to use language to influence change at the unconscious level. This is not their fault, it's a failing within their
That's why on day two of our Autumn online NLP Practitioner course we've spent the day looking at language:
👉 how people process information differently in their mind
👉 how understanding people's preferences can lead to your message landing more effectively
👉 how asking meta model questions can help the client get more specific about their problem - so we can more effectively help
👉 how being able to spot the linguistic assumptions in language can enable us to explore beyond the surface level of structure and work out the deep structure
👉 how building rapport the NLP ways means we can reduce the amount of deletions, distortions and generalisation the receipt might make - meaning more of what you say is heard (reducing the risk of others hearing what they want to hear even a little can make a massive difference!)
There is so much that makes up the NLP Practitioner language skills and today students left with a really good grasp on them illustrated in the final group exercise today.
