The Strength Curve - Why Some Lifts Feel Heavier in Certain Spots 💪🏼📈

Ever felt like a rep is going really well… until it suddenly feels like you’re trying to lift a car? 🚗😅 That’s the strength curve in action.

👉🏼 At certain joint angles, your muscles are stronger.�👉🏼 At others, they’re weaker (usually the start or end of a lift).

Take the bench press:
• Bar near your chest = “Why do I do this to myself?”
• Bar near lockout = “Oh hey, this isn’t so bad.”

Here’s the deal:
• Free weights follow your natural strength curve, so some parts of the lift feel stickier.
• Machines can smooth that out, giving you more consistent tension.

💡 Neither is better. Both have value. The best programs use free weights and machines - one builds overall strength and stability, the other fills the gaps.

So here’s your friendly nudge: make the most of these longer days while they last.

* Use the lighter mornings for a quick gym session before the day takes over ⏰
* Enjoy that endorphin high while the sun’s still shining 🌞
* Build the momentum now so autumn doesn’t knock you off track 🍂

Pull Your Weight (Literally) 💪🔥

The lat pulldown isn’t just about looking cool at the cable station - it’s one of the best moves for building a strong, wide upper back and better posture. Perfect if you want that V-taper look and to stop slouching like a gremlin.

✅ Form Tips:

• Grip: Go just wider than shoulder-width. Too wide = less range of motion.
• Posture: Chest up, shoulders down & back - think “proud peacock”, not “curled shrimp”.
• Pull: Bring the bar to your upper chest, elbows driving down and in.
• Control: Don’t let the bar yank you up - control both directions (this isn’t a ride at Disneyland)

💡 Why Your Upper Back Matters:

• Improves posture (hello, taller & more confident stance)
• Enhances pull strength for other lifts & bodyweight moves
• Balances out pressing work to keep shoulders healthy
• Contributes to that wider back look for better aesthetics

Sun’s out, Skewers Out ☀️🍢

These grilled halloumi & veggie skewers are your ticket to a protein-packed BBQ without the sad, limp salad 🥗 Halloumi holds its shape, gives you that glorious squeaky bite, and pairs perfectly with colourful summer veg.

You’ll need:

• Halloumi (cubed - try not to eat it all while chopping)
• Bell peppers, zucchini, red onion (chunky pieces)
• Olive oil, oregano, lemon juice

How to:

1. Thread halloumi and veg onto skewers like you’re making edible jewellery.
2. Brush with olive oil, sprinkle oregano, squeeze lemon juice.
3. BBQ until golden on all sides (or oven grill if your motivation is lacking)

Macros perk → Protein from cheese + vitamins from veggies = summer food that actually does your muscles some good 💪🏼

Hot weather hack: Make a big batch, stash leftovers in the fridge, and toss them into salads for tomorrow’s lunch.
