What is the story about?

To celebrate it’s forty-fifth anniversary this year, The Christmas Raccoons 1980 film, has been celebrated through this new book.

Someone is cutting down all of the trees in Evergreen Forest. Ranger Dan needs to get to the bottom of what’s going on whilst his two children, Julie and Tommy and their dog, Schaeffer, are more concerned they don’t have a tree of their own. 🌲

They search for the perfect tree and as luck has it they come across the perfect one. Unbeknownst to them this tree however is home to three very special Racoons, Bert, Ralph and Melissa. 🦝

What follows is an adventure to get their home back and to find out who else has been cutting down all of the trees in Evergreen Forest!!

I grew up with the Raccoons so for me this is a touch of nostalgia at it’s best.

I have previously read some of the other Racoons books by Candy Jar Books and loved them.

The story is beautifully written by Chris. He has been true to the authentic series whilst also adding a few changes that differ from the original episode. These are gentle, and still stay in keeping with the original tale.

In the book you will find QR codes that make the story also interactive. These QR codes include title sequences, music and scenes from the original episode. Kevin Gillis the creator of The Racoons also appears to chat with you.

My son loved using these as we read the story making it fun and engaging and he loved seeing clips of what I was watching as a child.

This is another lovely story written by Chris McGuire and a great way to bring the Racoons back to a new generation of fans.
