From years of university-level training to delivering regulated, evidence-informed care, chiropractors are MSK (musculoskeletal) specialists dedicated to improving movement, mobility, and overall health across the UK.

Chiropractic is a highly regulated healthcare profession, with extensive research supporting its safety and effectiveness. In the UK, chiropractors are legally regulated and must follow strict codes of practice - just like doctors and dentists. This regulation ensures consistency in education, high standards of training, and protection for patients using this protected title.

BCA chiropractors go beyond hands-on care. They integrate cognitive and lifestyle-based interventions, offering personalised advice on work, exercise, and daily habits to support long-term recovery. They also use functional rehabilitation and spinal stabilisation programmes to address persistent problems and reduce the risk of recurrence.

To become a chiropractor in the UK, students complete a four-year full-time Master’s Degree at one of the accredited universities in the country. BCA members take this commitment a step further, completing post-registration training with the Royal College of Chiropractors.

Chiropractic training covers a comprehensive range of medical knowledge and clinical skills, including:

◾Anatomy and physiology

◾Orthopaedics and neurology

◾Diagnostic imaging (X-ray and MRI)

◾Nutrition and histopathology

◾Rehabilitation

◾Care of older patients and paediatrics

◾General diagnosis (e.g. blood pressure, cardiac and respiratory exams, abdominal assessment)

This breadth of training allows chiropractors to take a whole-person approach and tailor care to each individual. There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment; every care plan is guided by the patient’s needs, preferences, and expectations.

As most chiropractic care is delivered in private practice, patient choice is paramount, and clinicians can utilise a full range of tools and techniques, without the limitations often found in other care settings -when clinically appropriate.

🗓️ 5 Days to World Spine Day! 🗓️
🌍 Healthy Habit Countdown: Desk Posture!

Why Proper Desk Posture Matters:
Maintaining good posture at your desk helps reduce strain on your spine, preventing back and neck pain. It promotes optimal blood flow, which can enhance concentration and productivity.

Tips for a Healthier Workspace:
🟢 Use a Standing Desk: Alternate between sitting and standing every 20-30 minutes to avoid static postures. This helps reduce the risk of musculoskeletal issues.
🔵 Micro-Breaks: Take short, frequent breaks (1-2 minutes) to rest and recover your muscles. These brief pauses can rejuvenate your mind and body, boosting overall productivity.
🟢 Ergonomic Setup: Ensure your chair supports your lower back, your feet are flat on the floor, and your screen is at eye level.

*Andrea's Maternity Leave*👩‍🍼🤱
'The time has come for me to slow down and reduce my clinic hours this month. With baby D’Day being the 17th of October, my last day treating will be the 26th of September.
I am proud to leave our clinics in the very capable hands of my 3 chiropractic Associates, who will be taking over my shifts whilst I am off.
Emily will be increasing her hours to support both Lyndsay at St Mellons and Amy in Whitchurch, which will ensure great availability at both clinics.
All being well, I hope to return to treating part-time in January. But I’m sure you will see me around being nosey, and we will keep you updated!'
