World Mental Health Day 💙

At Pineshield, we know that caring for others starts with caring for ourselves and each other.

Today is a reminder that mental health matters every single day, not just when things feel tough. Whether it’s a chat over a cuppa, checking in with a colleague, or taking five minutes to breathe, small acts of care can make a big difference.

To all our incredible team members, thank you for the compassion, empathy, and strength you show every day.

Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to support one another, inside and outside of work.

Cardiff Half 2025 – Team Pineshield!

A huge well done to Natasha, our amazing Care Coordinator, and Aravinda, one of our incredible carers, for taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday!

Aravinda isn’t just dedicated in his care role, he’s also a former Sri Lanka National Champion in the 400m Hurdles (3x consecutive!) and one of the top 5 fastest in Sri Lanka’s history! 😊

Natasha absolutely smashed it too, even if she insists she made it through at snail’s pace! 🐌😄

We’re so proud of both of you for showing the same determination and heart you bring to your work every day. 💙

Good communication is at the heart of great care 💙

We know everyone has their own preference when it comes to staying in touch.

Some people prefer a quick call, an email summary, or a friendly chat in person.

We’d love to know what works best for you 👇

As September comes to a close, We've been looking back at all the little moments that made this month so special.

Our team and clients have shared treasured memories, laughing over funny stories, and looking through old photo albums.

The team and clients have also shared smiles over simple joys like dolls, toy dogs, knitting, and even surprise keyrings each visit this month has been filled with warmth, laughter, and connection, which we believe is so important at Pineshield.

Our amazing carers have been lucky enough to spend time with some incredible people, including our oldest client at 103!!!!

Every story has reminded us of the power of companionship and the importance of slowing down to listen.

September has truly been about smiles, and we are so grateful to our team and to everyone who shared their time and memories with us. 💛

As part of our Mental Health Monthly series, we are shining a light on tips to manage anxiety and how some of our staff handle it when it arises.

Swipe to see what they say.

It’s important to remember that everyone experiences anxiety differently, and occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. But when it becomes persistent, overwhelming, or starts to affect daily routines or wellbeing, it may be time to seek extra support.

💡 Why we’re talking about it
Our goal is to raise awareness around mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage more open conversations. By sharing our own reflections, we hope to remind people that they’re not alone in how they feel.

⚠️ Please remember
We are a care company, not health professionals. If you are experiencing poor mental health or anxiety that is impacting your life, please reach out to your GP, a mental health professional, or a trusted support service.

As we continue with our September Smiles initiative…

Our amazing Theja has shared some heartwarming moments from the past couple of weeks:

❣️

B.R. had everyone laughing when she hid behind the door to give Theja a little scare. Theja “collapsed” dramatically, and they couldn’t stop giggling.

❣️

When Theja asked F.R. if he had done anything interesting today, he smiled and said, “Yes, it was you!” He was enjoying her company and even tried to dance with her 😄 The whole visit was filled with fun, laughter, and light-hearted moments.

❣️

B.J. reminisced happily about her childhood and travels, recalling her mum, a postmistress, and adventures in New Zealand and Australia with her late husband. Her excitement and cheer were contagious.

❣️

J.H. filled calls with music and curiosity, singing and dancing to songs from her chapel days. She was also thrilled to learn a word in Sinhala, sparking a lovely conversation about languages.

These moments, laughter, stories, and little discoveries highlight the joy Theja brings to her clients every day.

💛

Okay, let’s settle this once and for all 🧻

In our office, we’ve been having a heated debate..…

When putting up a new roll of toilet paper, do you hang it over or under?

React with 👍🏻 if you’re team under and ❤️ if you’re team over!

Let’s see which side wins 🏆😂

As part of our September Smiles initiative, we’re sharing heartwarming moments from the wonderful interactions between our carers and clients.

Recently, Ganooshi visited the lovely JL and came back with a beautiful story from their time together, one that perfectly captures the care, connection, and joy at the heart of what we do.

🌟

Ganooshi says....

During one of JL evening sessions, she initially declined her meal. In an effort to encourage her to eat, I engaged her in a light conversation about her favourite movie from her youth.

JL began reminiscing fondly and said, “Oh, I loved the movie Paper Moon. It shows the relationship
between a father and daughter in America. I still remember, gorgeous America, wow! I watched it when I was very young, but I can't remember how old I was.”

While continuing the conversation, I served her dinner and engaged in the pleasant chat. Gradually, JL finished her meal without realising it.

It was evident that the conversation positively impacted her willingness to eat, making the experience feel natural and comforting for her.

At the end of our time together, she gave her consent to take a selfie with me. She smiled and said, “Oh
come on lovely, you're one of my favourites, and you always make me comfortable.”

Her words were deeply touching and made the session truly meaningful. It was a heartfelt moment that reflected the trust and connection we’ve built.

Choosing a Care Provider 🌟

Finding the right care for yourself or a loved one is one of the most important decisions you can make.

For many families, the key factors often include the quality of care, the friendliness and compassion of staff, flexibility of services and of course, affordability.

At Pineshield, we believe that care should never be a “one size fits all” service.

We are people-centred first, which means taking the time to understand each individual, their needs, and what matters most to them.

By doing this, we can provide support that feels personal, respectful, and genuinely makes a difference.

What do you look for when choosing a care provider?
