Tatiana Mela: Babies are incredible! Only36 hrs post frenulotomy. The same baby who was struggling with many things just 36 hours before. It’s all was avoidable if Frenulotomy was done correctly at 6/52.

Tatiana Mela: Not even 24hrs yet post frenulotomy to read this put smile on my face!
This is the baby who has been partly treated or not treated, call it as you like at 6/52 of age. She was unhappy, restless, poor sleep, dribbling while feeding from the bottle, choking and gagging on solids, mouth breathing and miserable 8 months old!

Mother: Hi Tatiana,
I think she had her best night sleep, she slept from 8:30-5am with only a one minute wake up for a bit of comfort. She was great after the procedure, like nothing happened to be honest and is her usual happy self this morning, drank a bottle with no breaks which is unusual for her.

Tatiana Mela: There should have been no need for the second treatment if the initial procedure had been performed correctly and the family had received proper postoperative monitoring. The family was concerned that the tie was only partially divided. Lacking a clear understanding of the signs and symptoms to watch for, they struggled for an additional six and a half months.

Tatiana Mela: If you are told that you have to wait to see the change, this is someone who is trying to cover their own back. Because it is so rear. YOU SHOULD SEE IMPROVEMENT if your baby has had complete division. What I mean by that the tie has to go or otherwise do not bother!

If you are told; I think I cut it or I partly cut it because I just don’t know what I am doing. This should alarm you!

Well, treated! We move on. I am positive about this little boy!

It’s fascinates me how rewarding it is freeing them from restriction! Even observing the very 1st feed post frenulotomy and listening to the parents and what the see have changed!
I am very impatient and I want to see the results ASAP, which I normally do.

I've been meaning to message you but just haven't gotten round to it ! Just to say another big thankyou for my daughters tongue tie procedure you did when she was 8 months old...she is 3 now and her tongue is absolutely perfect...shes able to move her tongue freely and touch the roof of her mouth and even clean food round her mouth with it 😊😊 looking back at her baby photos I can now see how severe it was and I am just so grateful to you ❤️ she still has the lip tie but doesnt seem to be causing problems as of yet..but this will definitely be something I want to address in the future maybe see what her adult teeth are like when they grow.

Tatiana Mela: I can’t wait to see this new case. Apparently, partial division at the early stages of life is very common out there but here where you can be few months later……

Mother: Good morning,

I am just enquiring to see if you can check a baby that is 8 months old for oral issues. We have been weaning and my daughter will gag on anything that’s not puréed. She did have a bad tongue tie cut when she was a few weeks old but I’m not sure if this has resolved any oral issues.

Tatiana Mela: Sadly, this baby probably will need another cut at eight months of age.
The procedure is the same. Well, it’s not the same if I am doing frenulotomy. It is the age of the baby. It is much better for them to be treated when they are younger, as they less aware of it. I am not saying that they feel nothing, they do but some can even sleep through it. I have seen it. Less upsetting for everyone who are part of it. Including the baby.

This little one was treated for the first time at 6/52 by an “expert”. Here we go!

Was the second treatment avoidable? YES
If the 1st one was done properly and the family was looked after post treatment!
