🚨 This information is SO important for parents & families, especially at this time of year. 🚨 What symptoms should you look out for?
🚑 Some children have NO symptoms, and they vary largely based on where the battery is sat in their body
🚑 Pain
🚑 Dribbling & drooling
🚑 Difficult swallowing
🚑 Difficult speaking / change in voice
🚑 Coughing / spitting blood
🚑 Chest pain
🚑 Abdominal pain
🚑 Decreased eating or drinking

Be vigilant. Don’t leave batteries within reach of children, even if you’re nearby. It takes a second for a child to put a button battery in their mouth/nose/ear, and you may not even notice.

Why is fire safety so important this season? 🤔

From dried-out trees to overloaded sockets, the risk increases in December. Turn off Christmas lights when not home or asleep, use LEDs instead of incandescent, and never leave candles unattended.

Most fires start in the kitchen, so never leave the stove unattended or cook after consuming alcohol.

LifeVac Europe are extremely proud to introduce Marlowe, a 4-year-old year old boy in Bristol, UK. Marlowe was our 4,614th life saved (2817th child), when he choked on a piece of chicken causing a complete airway obstruction. Did you know popcorn is a really risky food for young children? 🍿 As delicious and easy a snack as it is, the size and shape of popcorn means it can lodge in the airway, and its lightweight nature poses an aspiration risk too - meaning it can be inhaled into the lungs. 🫁

Hi, I’m Daniela. 👋
With so many new followers it’s about time that I re-introduce myself!

💚 First and foremost, I’m Mummy to my wonderful 2-year old daughter. Her dad and I have been married for 3 years (together for 10!), and we live in Cardiff.

💚 The soundtrack to my life is invariably Taylor Swift. Midnights tops the albums for me because it was new & all I listened to when I was pregnant with my daughter. 👶🏻

💚 I’ve got 10 years of NHS experience, with much of that as a specialist Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. I was promoted to a Senior Nurse 3 years in, and I adore those little babies. Tiny superheroes! I recently saw an ex-patient of mine who is now 8, and it warms my heart to see them do so well.

💚 I’d always had a passion for teaching, so had woven it in wherever I could. After a health scare, I realised that if you love 2 jobs…why not do both? 🤩 I undertook my PGCE with a specialism in Maths, and becoming both a nurse & a teacher was the best thing I ever did. I am proud to be teaching my daughter that you can be whatever you want to be, no limitations ⭐️

💚 First Aid Cymru was born from 3 things:
👉 My love of saving lives
👉 My love of teaching
👉 But mostly, my love for my daughter. I had to save her life in our hallway at 8 months old, and I have made it my mission to teach as many people as possible how to do the same.

💚 I don’t just teach Baby & Child First Aid! First Aid Cymru is accredited by the FAIB to provide professional certification for first aid training, and I am always travelling around Cardiff to different businesses, offices and clinics to run courses. I teach everyone, from sports coaches to surgeons! ⭐️

💚 My classes are baby-friendly. However you feed, however they sleep, however you wean, you are ALWAYS welcome at my classes.

I’d love to meet you at a class soon, and teach you how to save a child’s life. It’s a skill you hope you’ll never have to use, but might, like me, be always grateful you had. ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you want to know why you should book a Baby & Child First Aid course, all you need to do is look at Google reviews. It’s just me, no other trainers, so all comments are from real people who I have directly taught. Looking at them makes me all emotional 🥹💚

Other than our list of wonderful 5 ⭐️ reviews, why else should you book a Baby & Child First Aid course with ?

🚨 81% of parents don’t have adequate first aid skills
🚨 Accidents and emergencies can happen to anyone, at any time. It happened to my daughter, and I’m a safety-mad paediatric nurse.
🚨 Child drowning deaths have DOUBLED in the U.K. in the last 5 years.
🚨 Out of hospital cardiac arrest survival rates in Wales are around 4.6% but, with effective first aid skills, survival can increase by 70%.
🚨 Kids are more prone to head injuries as they are top-heavy and fall head first.
🚨 Burns are more severe for children and babies, as their skin is thinner than ours.
🚨 20-30% of trampoline injuries require surgery.

🚑 I can teach you how to mitigate some of these sobering stats. I can show you how to reduce risk, and deal with emergencies if they were to happen.
