What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses the vibrations of sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture your body, mind and soothe your nervous system. The sounds in one of my Yin & Sound classes are made using Crystal Singing Bowls, specifically tuned to activate each chakra in the subtle body, as well as tuned chimes which draw on the different elements and seasons. These classes are designed to evoke rest, relaxation and to recharge your whole system.

Join me this week for another of my signature immersive experiences.

The art of letting go

The last Yama on our exploration, Aparigraha, is defined as to not hold on, grasp or be possessive of possessions, thoughts, relationships, jobs or ways of being. The opposite is... to let go.

As we approach Christmas, I find myself becoming attached to providing that 'perfect family Christmas'... you know - the one the movies lead you to believe is the ONLY way Christmas should be.

Maybe if we stopped for a moment, took a breath and looked around - let's release this need for Christmas to be PERFECT. Let's start taking pleasure in the small things...

A child's face as they see Santa.
The joy of having family around us.
The twinkling lights of a Christmas tree.

Why not join me this evening for the last Yin and Restore class of this year as we let go and release all that is not serving us. For when we release, we find more freedom.

So join me tomorrow morning, work up a sweat, reconnect with yourself and soothe your soul with the final Saturday class of the year!

~ A S T E Y A ~
The 3rd Yama (or as I refer to them - guidelines to be a lovely human) means to 'not steal'.
Whilst I'm sure you don't 'steal' in the criminal sense, I'm willing to bet that you steal from yourself regularly. Ask yourself: When was the last time you said 'yes' to someone even when you wanted to say 'no'? When did you last carry on binge watching Netflix when your body was crying out for sleep? When was the last time you felt rubbish with illness but pushed through and didn't take a sick day?

These are all examples of how we steal from our own energy source. If you are a 'self stealer' then I've got the antidote - Yin. Yin is the practice of 'giving back', of 'non-stealing'. We are asked to not take more than we need, or move beyond our limits - to nourish ourselves by listening to what our body, and mind, needs. We begin with the fullness of what we have and then move forward from there.

Sound good?
Join me tonight, and every Monday, at Be You in Cardigan for an hour of giving back to yourself, an hour of restoring your energy - an hour of Yin & Restore.

I'm back!

I've been gone a while, I know. For a variety of reasons (one of which is my children have both had tummy bugs for over 2 weeks), I've needed to step WAY back. But now the dust is beginning to settle and I can just see the light peaking through at the end of the tunnel, and I can begin to re-emerge.

I am currently spending my own time and practice looking deeper at the real foundations of Yoga. One of which is the Yamas, the 1st Limb of Patanjali's 8 Limbed Yogic Path - the path to enlightenment. The Yamas are, as I describe them, 5 tips to being a great human being. But traditionally they are described as 'moral disciplines'. There are 5 Yamas, which we will look at in turn over the next 5 weeks throughout my classes. This week we will start with 'Ahimsa' which means non-violence or non-harming.

I know that 'non violence' may sound quite obvious - we know we shouldn't be violent and the vast majority of us aren't what we would describe as 'violent'! But Ahimsa runs deeper - it is the basic art of being kind. Kind to others yes, but also kind to yourself. I know myself that I have spent much of my life NOT being kind to myself. Not resting when I need it, not eating healthily, not taking time to play and enjoy life, not talking to myself positively. I'd hazard a guess that you are the same. Ahimsa encompasses all of this.

Through Ahimsa, we come to understand that if we live our life bathed in kindness towards ourselves first, this action seeps out naturally into the world.

Join me this week - Monday 7-8pm for Yin & Restore at Be You Yoga, Cardigan.

I'm still completely reeling from my weekend retreat in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. Emails like this are why I do what I do, and why I love what I do! It fills me with so much joy that I have been able to help and support others after such a distressing year and a half. Thank you to the beautiful .atkinson63 for your wonderful words.

I've been that brand new overwhelmed, tired, exhausted Mum who had no chance to put herself first and take care of her own needs. I completely understand. And I'm here to help.

I started teaching Baby & Me Yoga sessions to help new parents relieve stress, bond with baby, ease back into movement/exercise and meet others in the same position so you can cultivate a community! So if you're a brand new parent and maybe you're getting very little sleep, or you feel overwhelmed and baby even a little lonely, why not come and try Baby & Me Yoga? Swipe to see why you should give it a try!

R E S T
Lie down with as much love as you can.
Feel the earth receive you.
Lie there like a fallow field,
Resting...
At ease.
Take a long slow inhale, and imagine that you are being replenished.
As you exhale, give this breath back into the world.

My heart is so full, I am feeling so topped up with gratitude and love for the most wonderful weekend sharing my passion with a group of incredible souls. And I am also exhausted (but in a good way). So I intend to nourish and nurture myself this week and give back to myself the energy I have shared over the weekend.

How often do you rest? Like, truly, purposefully rest? It is something so many of us do so little of but rest can be productive. It can give us time and space to clear our minds, to rest and recharge our bodies and can be in these spacious moments that we experience those 'aha' moments. As we enter the cooler months of Autumn and Winter, let's take inspiration from nature and turn inwards, let's rest... hibernate... surrender.

This October, join me every Monday evening at 7pm at .wales for a delicious and soothing Yin Yoga practice using bolsters and sound to support and soothe - to encourage active, deep, conscious rest. I can't wait to see you there and guide you.

From my heart to yours,
Dani ###

20/09/2021

Your breath is such a simple, free and easy tool to help you relax. So much of the time we don't breathe properly, effectively, using the full capacity of our lungs. We therefore end up breathing into our chest quickly, and in short bursts. This tells our brains we aren't 'safe'.

In an attempt to simplify and slow down, this week I'm going to share with you a gentle, soothing and calming practice to remind your brain and your body that you are indeed 'safe'. Correct breathing habits are important because they provide the the body with enough oxygen for our brains, and breathing deeply is one of the most efficient strategies for coping with stressful situations, anxiety or stress.

Join me this evening for a nourishing and soothing breath centred Yin & Restore sequence, ending with a beautiful sound healing. 7pm at .wales

Lots of love and light,
Dani

Simplicity boils down to 2 steps:
1. Identify the essential
2. Eliminate the rest

A wise Yoga Teacher and Mentor once said if you want to learn more about something, then start teaching it. Many of you will know my life has been exceedingly complicated and full of set backs, change and quite frankly, DRAMA over the last 2 years. And that doesn't have THAT much to do with Covid either. Whilst on holiday I was struck by such huge overwhelm, now that I had finally STOPPED, that I knew I needed to change something. I wracked my brains, I meditated on it, and I kept coming back to the same thing...

SIMPLIFY

I needed to simplify my life, and everything in it. I needed to take a step back, look at what was absolutely NECESSARY, and then get rid of everything else. This is how I intend to rebuild and get back to ME. So, it seems fitting, and to help me delve deeper into this subject, to actually start incorporating it into my class themes this month.

Join me throughout September as we get back to basics, choose the beauty of simplicity within our practice, minds and bodies and eliminate what is not serving us.
