✨ Permissiveness in Play Therapy ✨

In the playroom, children are free to express themselves fully — without judgment or correction. 💛

Permissiveness doesn’t mean anything goes — it means creating a safe space where children can:
🌱 Explore feelings openly
🎨 Try out ideas without fear of being “wrong”
🗣️ Express big emotions in ways that feel natural

This freedom builds trust and helps children discover their inner strength and resilience.

The therapy room becomes a place where all feelings are welcome, and all parts of the child are seen. 🌈

🐾✨ Meet the Therapy Team ✨🐾

Hi, I’m Kam, a person-centred counsellor that is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space for healing and growth. And this is my wonderful co-therapist, Leroy 🐶💛.

Leroy has a gift for bringing calm, comfort, and a sense of connection into the room. Together, we work to help clients feel grounded, supported, and never alone in their journey.

Whether it’s through gentle presence, wagging encouragement, or therapeutic conversations, we’re here to walk alongside you. 🌱💬

🧘‍♀️Physical grounding – Using the senses or body movement to feel anchored ⚓️
• Placing feet firmly on the floor
• Holding something textured (stone, fabric, ice cube)
• Naming 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, 1 you can taste “Pause. Breathe. Notice where your body touches the chair, your feet on the ground, your breath in your chest.
In this moment, you are safe.” 🌿🌱🌻🌊 ❤️

✨ Back-to-School Anxiety is Real ✨
It’s normal for children to feel worried as they step into a new school year. New teachers, new routines, and new social dynamics can all feel overwhelming.

💡 Signs your child might be struggling with school anxiety:
• Stomachaches or headaches before school
• Trouble sleeping Sunday night
• Irritability or frequent meltdowns
• Avoidance (“I don’t want to go!”)

🌱 How you can help:
• Validate their feelings: “I know this feels hard.”
• Keep routines predictable.
• Practice coping skills (deep breaths, positive self-talk).
• Encourage small steps of bravery—and celebrate them.

✨ Remember: Anxiety is not misbehavior—it’s a signal your child needs support. With patience and tools, kids can build confidence and resilience.

🧩 If your child’s school anxiety feels overwhelming, therapy can help them (and you) find a calmer path forward.

🌿 Live Your Life to the Fullest 🌿

Living fully doesn’t mean being happy all the time.
It means being present — feeling the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
It means honoring your needs, setting boundaries, and choosing joy without guilt.

Healing isn’t about erasing pain — it’s about building a life around it that feels meaningful.
Take the trip. Say what you mean. Rest when you’re tired. Laugh loud. Cry when you need.

This is your life. You don’t need permission to live it deeply, honestly, and fully. 💛

07/07/2025

🌟 Therapist Tip: You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment — joy can live in the little things. A deep breath. A laugh with a friend. A sunset walk. Life is now.

🧠 Healing isn’t just about processing the pain — it’s also about making room for pleasure, play, and peace. You deserve all of it. 💛

✨ Today’s Reminder:
Don’t just survive — live.

🌀 Therapy isn’t always a straight line. And that’s okay.

Some days you’ll feel lighter, other days heavier.
Some sessions bring relief. Others stir up emotions you’ve buried deep.

✨ Mood changes in therapy are part of the process.
It’s not a setback — it’s your mind stretching, healing, growing.

If you’re feeling off after a session, you’re not doing it wrong.
You’re doing the work. 💪

📌 Trust the process.
💬 How have your moods shifted during therapy? Let’s talk about it.

💬 What’s Important to Teenagers Today? (From a Therapy Lens)

As a therapist, here’s what teens are really telling us beneath the surface:

🧠 To be understood, not fixed
They don’t want lectures—they want listening.

🤳 To feel seen in their world
Social media, identity, mental health, climate anxiety—this is their reality, not a distraction.

🌈 To explore who they are without shame
Gender, culture, neurodivergence, beliefs—they need space to discover, not pressure to conform.

💛 To be met with compassion, not control
Connection first. Boundaries second. Always in that order.

🎧 To feel emotionally safe
Validation is not weakness—it’s regulation.

Teens today are not “too sensitive.”
They’re emotionally aware in a world that often isn’t.

If we want to support them, we have to listen louder than we react.

🧐🤔What Do Humans Really Need? (From a Therapy Perspective)

We all crave:

🌱 Safety – Emotional, physical, and relational
💬 To be heard – Without fixing, judging, or rushing
🤝 Connection – With at least one person who truly sees us
🎭 Permission to be real – Not just “fine” or “functional”
❤️ Compassion when we struggle – Not just praise when we succeed
🔁 Repair – Because conflict isn’t the issue; disconnection without repair is
🪞 Reflection – A space to understand ourselves more deeply
⚖️ Balance – Between responsibility and rest, doing and being

Therapy doesn’t give you all these things—but it creates the space to explore, rebuild, and receive them.

Sometimes healing begins the moment someone says:
“What you feel makes sense.”

🧠 Therapeutic Parenting Isn’t About Being Perfect—It’s About Being Present 🧠

As a therapist, I often remind parents:

Therapeutic parenting means responding to the need behind the behavior—not just the behavior itself.

Especially for children who’ve experienced trauma, loss, or neurodivergence, their “acting out” is often a stress response, not defiance.

💬 Instead of: “What’s wrong with this child?”
Try: “What happened to this child?” or “What do they need right now?”

Therapeutic parenting includes:
✔️ Co-regulation over punishment
✔️ Curiosity over control
✔️ Repair over perfection
✔️ Connection over compliance

It’s hard work. It’s emotional work.
And it’s powerful, healing work.

You’re not “giving in” by parenting this way.
You’re building trust, safety, and long-term emotional resilience.

💛 National Best Friend Day 💛

Today we celebrate the friends who show up—
the ones who sit with us in silence, laugh with us in chaos,
and hold space for who we truly are.

In therapy, we often talk about support systems—
because healing doesn’t happen in isolation.
Sometimes, a best friend is part of that healing.

To the ones who:
🫶 Remind us we’re not too much
🫶 Stay when things get messy
🫶 Help us feel safe just by being near

You are more than a friend—you’re part of our resilience. 💛

Here’s to chosen family, deep connection, and the kind of friendship that makes growth possible.

To all my friends - i love you 🫶
