🌿 Now more about this week's theme 🌿

The theme this week is about embracing change and focusing on strengthening our back, improving our mood through gentle sun salutations and creating a sense of surrender and peace in passive floor stretches that open up the heart Chakra (ideal for releasing tightness in the chest)

Focusing on the heart chakra is also a great way to let go of the old, and be more current with yourself, accepting yourself and loving who you are. Don't get lost in the future too much either, it causes too much anxiety. Dip your toes in for planning, but keep coming back to the present

See you soon!

This week's theme is matching the recent sound bath we had at Silloth, focusing on the Root Chakra and Grounding ourselves through yoga postures that focus on the legs and feet. There will be a little twist with the classes this week - we will be starting with drumming at the beginning and at the end of the class. Why is this an important Chakra to focus on?

Basic Survival

The First Chakra, or Root Chakra, is located at the base of the spine in the general area of the perineum. In Sanskrit, this chakra is called the β€œMuladhara Chakra.”

The Muladhara Chakra is mostly linked with basic survival needs, a sense of being grounded on the earth, and shelter (home)

Some of the life events that can cause an imbalance of energy in the Root Chakra are losing a home, job, or spouse and experiencing financial stress, or not feeling settled with where you are in your home, location, or relationship uncertainty.

Holding extra body weight, hoarding unnecessary possessions, or holding on too tightly to money are all symptoms of an unbalanced Root Chakra.

Emotional and Physical Grounding

The Root Chakra is associated with an emotional and physical grounding in the earth element. When we feel security and safety, we are comfortably connected with being on the earth.

The color associated with the Root Chakra is red, and the energetic vortex of this chakra vibrates at a slower pace than the other ascending chakras.

The body parts associated with the Muladhara Chakra are the feet, legs, base of the spine, and large intestines. Experiences in life that make us feel uprooted or jeopardize our sense of safety and security unbalance this chakra.

Healing and Balancing

Standing on one’s two feet and staying in one place is vital to healing and balancing the Muladhara Chakra. Additionally, stretching the hamstrings helps to alleviate a sense of fight or flight that is generated by tightness in this area.

Forward Bend Pose or Head-to-Knee Pose, are excellent poses for nurturing a sense of being grounded and centered. Both poses will help calm the body and mind.

There will be a lot of poses that strengthen our feet and legs whilst releasing tension in the lower spine.

See you soon my friend πŸ§˜πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜Œ

This week's theme in classes at Currock Community Centre and Wigton Market-Hall is.. Yin Yoga

Book your class at www.activateyoga.co.uk/classes

This week is all about passive yoga poses that keep us close to the ground with no standing postures. It's all about targeting our hips, lower spine and legs, releasing tension in our "stress" zones and taking it slow.

The purpose of Yin Yoga is to restore our natural ability to move with fluidity. This in turn develops the flow of chi throughout the body. Holding a particular pose for long enough will result in the body eventually, surrendering into that position over time, making it feel easier, natural and a lot less challenging. maintaining that level of flexibility then becomes much easier long term.

Patience is key in this type of yoga - allowing your body to feel that stretch and relax into it. Letting your mind find stillness and not hurrying anything. It's a hard lesson to learn, patience, but when you learn it, life becomes a lot less stressful and you will become so much more present.
