📝👦🏼👧🏻Pen pal visit 👧🏻👦🏼📝

We enjoyed seeing the children from Newtown Primary School this week after a couple of weeks of not seeing them.

It was nice to play some games and just chatter away to each other, they do light up our lives and make us feel young again!

John resident here said “I like to see them running around and having fun, it makes me remember what it was like as a lad”

Music For Health…

We thought to celebrate International Men’s Day we would re start our Gentlemen’s club on a Monday to help get our men talking and joining together in our bistro area.

We also done some exercises for the mind, body and soul to help with our health and wellbeing, the men done a really good job showing the women how it’s done 💪🏻

🚐 Mini bus adventures…

This afternoon some of our residents from our Priory community enjoyed an outing to Houghton Hall garden centre.

We were happy to see all the Christmas decorations were out, they were very nice to look at and the wonderful display Christmas village!

The best part was the cafe for a hot drink and cake, which went down well 🍰

💛🐻 Children in Need 🐻💛

We’ve had a lovely day raising money for children in need.

We had dancing and singing, dressed in our pj’s for the day and then a coffee afternoon with a cake sale 🧁

A busy but fun day had by all, we raised a grand total of £100!

⚽️ Carlisle united community group ⚽️

This morning our residents enjoyed their weekly visit from Carlisle United Community Sports Trust.

We started off with a warm up to get us all stretched and ready to go, then we done some dances like the hand jive and locomotion, we enjoyed some bean bag throwing and then finished off with a game of keep the ball moving!

🌟Employees of the month 🌟

Our employees of the month for October are Shannon - Care Assistant and Lesley - Kitchen Assistant.

Shannon has been recognised for being an extremely caring and wonderful care assistant, although she is new to care she has picked it up wonderfully and doing such an incredible job.

Lesley has been recognised for helping run the kitchen smoothly, looking after our bistro area and picking up extra shifts to help the kitchen team all with a smile on her face.

A fun filled week of activities 🎯

We enjoyed Judith playing her piano while we sang along, there was a lot of wonderful singing and even some actions to the songs! 🎹

We’ve had Carlisle united community sports trust doing some different exercises and games, which the residents all really engage well with. ⚽️

We’ve been preparing for our residents stall at our Christmas fete, the residents are getting creative making different things started with pom poms 🧶

And our very popular prize bingo, which the residents love and it is always on Thursday afternoons without fail 🔢

🎆🎇 Bonfire night celebrations 🎇🎆

Last night we celebrated with some fireworks which our residents really enjoyed, we also had some people from the local community which was nice to see.

The smiles on faces as the sky lit up was lovely, all while enjoying hot chocolates, then some sparklers to finish off. ✨

🎃 Halloween Celebrations 🎃

Residents, patients and colleagues got into the Halloween spirit of things by creating beautiful autumnal displays with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

Many of our care homes and hospitals hosted fun-filled Halloween events with delicious treats, mocktails, live music entertainment, costume competitions and community celebrations.

It's safe to say that everyone had a spooktacular time. 👻

Today we delivered some food to the local Carlisle Foodbank.

We had been collecting some donations of food which we dropped off today, they were all very friendly and extremely greatful of our donation.

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.

🚐 Outing on the bus 🚐

This morning some of our Sycamore residents went on a lovely outing to Carlisle cathedral, we had a wonderful tour and explored the beautiful cathedral.

Then we had a little wander around the markets in the centre of town and enjoyed a nice hot drink to warm us up on this cold day.

Hazel resident here said “It’s nice to be able to get out, the cathedral is a beautiful place and I used to come here on Friday so it’s nice to get back”

🔍 Thursday Night Murder Club at Caldy Manor 🕵️‍♀️

It was an evening to remember at Caldy Manor Care Home on the as residents, colleagues and friends from Heswall & District Ladies Circle turned detectives, suspects and stars in the home’s very own Thursday Murder Club-themed evening.

Inspired by Richard Osman’s much-loved mystery novels, there were hilarious plot twists and some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs and fantastic acting from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all, the experience was a roaring success.

Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming! 😉

🎃 Pumpkin Flower Arranging 🎃

Today we done some very creative and beautiful flower arrangements in pumpkins.

This activity was thoroughly enjoyed in all of our communities, there was lots of chatting and laughter. Such an enjoyable day!

🏅 Silver Success for Hugh Myddelton at Enfield in Bloom 2025 🌸

We’re happy to share that Hugh Myddelton House Care Home in won Silver in the Best Communal Gardens category at the Enfield in Bloom 2025.

The team proudly received their certificate from the Mayor of Enfield, Margaret Greer, at the Chickenshed Theatre – a joyful moment for everyone involved.

A big thank you to all who helped make the gardens so beautiful this year, especially volunteer Pat and Resident Ambassador Rosa.

Jade Shea, General Manager at the home, said: “Our garden is not just a beautiful space it’s a source of comfort, activity and pride for everyone here. This award belongs to our entire community who have worked so hard to make it flourish.”

The Enfield in Bloom competition, held annually, honours the best in gardening and environmental efforts across the borough.

🎉 Rose Water Place Supports Local Fishing Charity 🎉

Rose Water Place Care Home in recently presented Cast A Thought charity with a cheque for £1,260 in support of their Fish and Chat project, which promotes mental health and wellbeing through the therapeutic benefits of angling.

Cast A Thought CIC empowers children, young people and adults through accessible and inclusive fishing activities that encourage mental wellness and connection with nature.

Colleagues and residents welcomed Dave and Helen from Cast A Thought to a small gathering at the home to celebrate and hand over the cheque, awarded on behalf of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

Hadrian Rodriguez, General Manager at Rose Water Place, shared: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities and Cast A Thought ensures that every cast of the line brings hope, healing and togetherness in the community.”
