📱 Manage your appointments from your phone!

Most of our outpatient appointments can now be viewed directly on the NHS App, making it easier than ever to stay on top of your healthcare.

You can now see the majority of your hospital outpatient appointments in the App, and for many of our services you can request to amend or cancel appointments within the App.

A recent national survey found that nearly 1 in 4 people have missed an NHS appointment because they forgot or arrived too late. Missed appointments mean longer waits for others, so turn on push notifications in the App to get timely reminders and easily rearrange appointments you can’t attend.

Please take a moment to check your notification settings in the NHS App so you never miss an appointment!

Muscle, joint, heart, lung, or pelvic health problems?? 💚💙

Some GP practices may offer First Contact Physiotherapy in-house - you would need to check with your specific surgery.

However, you can also self-refer for MSK Physiotherapy at North Cumbria Integrated Care - no GP needed.

They help with:

- Joint pain, sports injuries, rheumatology conditions
- Stroke, MS, Parkinson’s
- Heart or lung rehab
- Pelvic health issues, including pregnancy and incontinence

Treatment may include advice, exercises, hands-on therapy, and group sessions.

Available in hospital, outpatient, or community settings.

Sudden eye problems? If you have a red or painful eye, something stuck in your eye, sudden vision changes, or flashes/floaters, contact the North East & North Cumbria Urgent Eye Care Service (CUES).

Call first - not a walk-in. You may get advice, a virtual or in-person appointment, or a hospital referral.

Not for routine checks - ongoing conditions like cataracts or glaucoma should be managed by your usual optometrist or hospital eye team.

When you quit smoking, you’ll start to see almost immediate improvements to your health. It’s never too late to stop — and you’re much more likely to succeed with the right support.

Quitting smoking can help you:
- Breathe easier
- Feel better
- Save money
- Live longer

Both Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council offer free support to help you quit - and you can self-refer. Even if you're a non-smoker, feel free to spread the word to anyone you know who might be considering quitting.

The North Cumbria Podiatry Service at North Cumbria Integrated Care keeps you mobile, pain-free, and treats infections or movement issues that go beyond self-care.

💡 You can self-refer - no GP needed.

They’ll assess your needs, give advice, or arrange follow-up treatment if needed. Home visits may be available.
