Triage System Update - Its been over a month since go live.
Its been a huge change to our way of working. We are continuously reviewing feedback from patients, staff and other health professionals to improve.
Since go live we received over 4200 submissions at an average of 184 per day.
94% of submissions have been resolved same day. Resolved includes all outcomes from being booked to an appointment ( same day or in the future) , sending a prescription, signposting to appropriate services.
We hope these changes have improved the patient experience

We are trying to encourage patients, who are able, to complete their online Anima triage form themselves. The link to access the forms is

Where patients are genuinely unable to do this reception are able to assist.

Asking patients to complete the form leaves our telephone lines free for the patients unable to complete the forms and urgent contacts that cannot go through the triage system

We ask that all home visit requests for those that are housebound and unable to attend the surgery are called into the surgery as these need reviewed by our Duty doctor.

Nurse appointments should all be booked via reception. Please do not complete a triage form for these

Important Update: Continued Access to Services at Your GP Practice

You may have seen recent news coverage about changes to some GP surgeries across North and West Cumbria and their decision to step back from providing certain services. This is due to increasing workload pressures and concerns on how this impacts patient access to GP services.

We want to reassure our patients that there will be no current changes to our services for:
• Blood tests
• ECGs
• Physical health monitoring for patients on specialist mental health medication
• Pre- and post-operative blood testing
• Wound care
• Blood monitoring for specialist treatments such as chemotherapy or biological therapies

We are currently working closely with NHS colleagues across the system to ensure that services are delivered in the right setting, at the right time, and in a way that best supports the health and wellbeing of our patients.

Phone issues 25/07/25 Update - Following on from yesterday, our phone supplier has confirmed this issue should be resolved. We apologise for this issue but it was beyond our control.

Phone system issues - Thursday 24/07/2025 - Please be aware there are nationwide issues affecting multiple Mobile phone networks. This is causing us issues contacting patients and receiving calls. This fault is beyond our control.

Did not attend - As part of our Traige system we are using self booking appointments for patients. The benefit of these is they allow you to choose a date and time that suits you to book the requirement appointment.
However we are seeing a major rise in patients not attending appointments they have booked. If you cannot attend your appointment please use the text message to cancel or call the surgery on 01228524477

Patient Triage Feedback. Its always nice to hear positive comments.

"My son isnt well so I rang the surgery and the message informed me about online triage, so I did a form and it was soooo efficient, I would have still been on the phone to the doctors in the queue if it was the old way. Literally someone rang me back in about 20 minutes and I have an appointment at 1.30."

Total triage update 15/07/25. Thanks to all staff and patients who supported us with the role out of total triage.
It was a learning experience for all. We will be continuously reviewing our new way of working and adapting from learnings.
We received over 270 triage submissions.
