Neurodiversity Week

The concept of neurodiversity reminds us that conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, learning disabilities, and mental health differences come with unique strengths.

• Autism often brings strong attention to detail, focus, and memory
• ADHD is associated with creativity, energy, and the ability to hyper-focus
• Dyslexia is linked to visual thinking and innovation
• Dyspraxia can bring empathy, intuition, and strong interpersonal awareness

At the centre of neurodiversity is a powerful truth: different ways of thinking are not wrong they are valuable.

Child Exploitation Awareness Day - 18 March

Child exploitation can happen to any child, in any community.
It is never the child’s fault. Knowing what to look for can help you protect a child or young person who may be at risk.

Spot the signs
Look out for changes in behaviour or things that seem unusual, such as:
• Going missing from home or care
• Missing school or being absent a lot
• Gifts, money or items they can’t explain
• Using alcohol or drugs
• Self‑harm
• Shoplifting or theft
• Becoming secretive or withdrawn
• Unexplained injuries
• An extra phone they can’t account for
• Signs of sexual activity, such as condoms or pregnancy tests
• Spending time with older people
• Dropping long‑standing friends

What to do if you’re worried:
If you’re concerned a child is being exploited, please share it. You won’t be wasting anyone’s time.
• If a child is in immediate danger, call 999
• If you’re worried and need advice, call Cumbria Police on 101
• You can also contact the Cumberland Children’s Advice and Support Service on 0333 240 1727
Every call helps keep children safe.
Please share this post to raise awareness.
