Appreciation for the marvellous Maria who has come away from the Scottish masters championship today with 2 gold medals 🥇🥇 in the 60m and 200m.

She has had her share of challenges and hasn’t ran competitively for years but is proof of what you can achieve if you’re willing to put the work in (and are a little bit stubborn 😉).

Chiro helps keep her system functioning well. We work on movement, mechanics and nervous system. Working with anyone is a partnership and I’m grateful for Marias questions and curiosity that keep me on my toes as we work out solutions together.

Ps Marias strong and stretchy yoga class is highly recommended 🧘🏼

You’ve all been keeping me busy over the last few weeks and many of you are suffering with aches and pains that have become more noticeable since the weather changed 🌧️ 🥶 and daylight hours are shorter 🌑

There’s lots you can do to keep your nervous system and body feeling good through the winter months

- get outside and move your body, wrap up 🧤🧣 and walk is a great place to start
- Morning light 🌅 keeps your circadian rhythm in check
- Do something you enjoy or look forward to
- Ditch the processed food and eat some colourful fruit and veg and fibre. Your gut houses a huge portion of your immune system and produces neurotransmitters which play a role in mood.
- Take your vit D

Are you warming up properly?

Warming up gets our body ready for movement by increasing circulation, warming muscles and priming our nervous system. 🫁 ❤️ 🧠

Warm ups should be specific to the activity you’re about to do - so warming up for hiking would look different to warming up for horse riding for example. ⛰️ 🏋🏼‍♀️ 🧘🏼 ⚽️ 🏃🏼

Taking a few minutes to warm up also gives us chance to check in with how are body is feeling, are there any areas that need extra attention?

Healing journeys can be filled with
‘I need to do more of X’
‘I need to fit more of …..into my routine’

And as therapists were guilty of contributing to this too, often giving exercises or self help tasks, which all have their place but sometimes the best thing for your body/brain is to do allow yourself nothing at all!

✨Warning…..if you’re a busy bee 🐝 it’s not going to feel great to start with…..keep going!

(Yes I’d rather lie on the floor than sit on the bench 😂)
