🌟 We’re Hiring! – Full‑Time Cook at Holmehurst Residential Care Home 🌟

📍 Location: Holmehurst Residential Care Home
🕘 Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm
📅 Schedule: Full time, every other weekend required

Holmehurst Residential Care Home is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Cook to join our warm, friendly team.

We provide high‑quality meals for vulnerable elderly residents, including those with diabetes, fortified diet needs, and other specialised dietary requirements.

👩‍🍳 About the Role
You will:

- Prepare nutritious, home‑cooked meals tailored to residents’ needs
- Plan menus that are varied, balanced, and follow dietary guidelines
- Ensure safe food handling and maintain excellent kitchen hygiene
- Work closely with care staff to support residents’ wellbeing

💙 What We’re Looking For

- Experience cooking in a care home, school, café, or similar environment.
- Understanding of dietary needs for elderly adults, including modified and fortified diets
- Knowledge of diabetic‑friendly meal preparation
- A caring, patient, and reliable approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team

Our residents enjoyed a beautiful afternoon together with flowers, sweet treats, and plenty of smiles. It was a day filled with cherished memories, shared stories, and appreciation for the incredible women who have shaped so many lives.

🌟 A Wonderful Visit from Zoobiedoo’s! 🌟

Today we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Zoobiedoo’s Mobile Zoo to Holmehurst Residential Care Home! 🐾💛

Our residents had a fantastic time meeting, feeding, and even holding a variety of friendly animals.

There were lots of smiles, laughter, and wonderful moments of connection. 🐇🐢🦎

A big thank you to Zoobiedoo’s for bringing so much joy into our home today — visits like these make such a difference! 💕

💜 Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2026 💜

This week at Holmehurst Residential Care Home, we’re joining people across the country in raising awareness for Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

Eating disorders can affect anyone — at any age — and we believe it’s important to continue the conversation, challenge stigma, and promote understanding within our community.

At Holmehurst, we focus on:
🌼 Kindness and dignity in care
🌼 Supporting residents with compassion and patience
🌼 Encouraging positive relationships with food, wellbeing, and self‑care
🌼 Creating a safe environment where concerns can be shared without judgment.

We’d like to take this week to recognise not only those who are affected, but also the families, carers, and healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to support recovery.

🥞 Pancake Day at Holmehurst Residential Care Home! 🥞

We had a flipping great time celebrating Pancake Day today! The kitchen filled the home with delicious smells, and our residents certainly didn’t waste any time tucking in. 😄

I only managed to snap photos of two residents with their pancakes — everyone else was far too quick and had already enjoyed theirs! A sure sign they were a hit. 💛

A lovely day filled with smiles, treats, and happy tummies at Holmehurst. 🥰

💖 Valentine’s Day Fun at Holmehurst Residential Care Home! 💖

Our lovely residents had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine’s Day by creating their very own heart trees! 🌳❤️

The room was filled with laughter, creativity, and plenty of colourful hearts as everyone joined in. It was a beautiful way to share love, friendship, and a bit of crafty fun.

We’re so proud of the amazing artwork they created — and even more proud of the joy these moments bring to our Holmhurst family. 💕

🍫👩‍🍳Baking Rocky Road with the residents at Holmehurst Residential Home🍫👩‍🍳

It was a joyful, hands‑on activity that brought everyone together 👨‍🍳✨.

The residents enjoyed mixing chocolate, marshmallows, and biscuits 🍫🧈🍪, sharing stories and laughter as they worked. The simple, sensory experience made it accessible for all, and the finished treats were proudly enjoyed with a cup of tea ☕🍰.

It was a lovely way to encourage creativity, connection, and a real sense of achievement among the group 💛.
