The lights are hung, the candles glow,
And still, there’s something I just can’t show,
A quiet ache beneath the cheer,
A missing voice I long to hear.

The world decks out in red and gold,
But grief slips in, unwrapped, untold.
It pulls a chair up by the tree,
A silent guest that sits with me.

I laugh, I smile, I play my part,
But joy and sorrow share one heart.
For every twinkle, soft and bright,
There’s one that dims in memory’s light.

I set a place for love, not pain,
Yet find their absence here again.
In songs they loved, in a festive glow,
In traditions only they would know.

But in the hush of winter’s air,
I feel them close, still woven there.
In gentle signs, in whispered peace,
In love that time can never cease.

So I hold entwine both a joy and ache,
For grief is love that couldn’t break.
And though this season feels bittersweet,
Their memory is in my heart to keep.

When I go
don’t learn to live without me,
just learn to live with my love
in a different way.

And if you need to see me
close your eyes
or look in your shadow
when the sun shines

I’m there.

Sit with me in the quiet and you will know
that I did not leave.

There is no leaving
when a soul is blended with another.

When I go
don’t learn to live without me
just learn to look for me in the moments

I will be there.
