💉 Baby vaccinations have changed… here’s what you need to know.

💉 Vaccines protect your baby from a range of serious illnesses, safely and effectively. They’ve been used for many years and are one of the best ways we can keep little ones protected.

💉 There is no evidence of any link between vaccines and autism. This has been looked at in large, high-quality studies across the world.

💉 The study from 1998 that raised concerns about the MMR vaccine was found to be seriously flawed and later withdrawn, and the doctor involved is no longer allowed to practise medicine.

💉 Even so, it understandably caused worry at the time and led to lower vaccination rates in some places.

💉 There have been a few updates to how and when babies are vaccinated:
• Chickenpox is now included in the routine schedule
• A new 18-month appointment has been added
• Some vaccines are given at slightly different ages than before
• The MMR vaccine is now MMRV (includes chickenpox too)

💉 Your baby will be offered vaccines at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and 18 months.

💉 All designed to protect them as early as possible.

💉 If you’re ever unsure or want to read more, it’s so important to use trusted sources like the NHS or WHO.

💉 There’s a lot of misinformation online, and it can feel overwhelming. Your GP and health visitor will guide you every step of the way.

👁 Okay, so predicting your baby’s eye colour is actually not as easy as following a chart…

👁 Scientists believe up to 11 different genes can influence eye colour, which means it’s far more complicated, and much more surprising, than many people realise!

👁 So while mum and dad’s eye colours can give a few clues, genetics can still throw in a little twist and deliver the unexpected.

❓ Did our eye colour predictor get it right for your little one?
Tell us in the comments, we’d love to know!

👍 TAG an expecting mum or dad so they can have a guess.

🔹 Mastitis can come on quickly and leave you feeling sore, unwell and exhausted, especially when you’re already caring for a little one. Knowing the signs early can make a big difference.

🔹 If you notice breast pain, redness, swelling, flu-like symptoms or feel generally unwell, it’s important to take action promptly. Keep feeding or expressing regularly, rest where you can, stay hydrated and seek medical advice if symptoms don’t improve or you feel very unwell.

🔹 You do not need to struggle through it alone. Support is available, and getting help early can speed up recovery.

💉 This week is World Immunisation Week, which aims to highlight and promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

❌ There is no evidence of any link between vaccines and autism. This has been demonstrated in many studies, conducted across very large populations.

🔹 The 1998 study which raised concerns about a possible link between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism, was found to be seriously flawed and fraudulent. The paper was retracted by the journal that published it, and the doctor that published it lost his medical license.

🔹 Unfortunately, its publication created fear that led to dropping immunisation rates in some countries, and subsequent outbreaks of these diseases.

👶 Your baby will have immunisations at 8, 12 and 16 weeks and again at 1 year to protect them against a range of serious infectious diseases.

🤓 If you are unsure about whether or not to get your child vaccinated and want to do more research be wary of websites making false claims and make sure you only use credible sources.

👍 To help you find them, the WHO has reviewed and ‘certified’ many websites across the world that only provide information based on reliable scientific evidence and independent reviews by leading technical experts. These websites are all members of the Vaccine Safety Net.

🫤Autism is often spoken about using negative words such as ‘disorder’ and ‘difficulty’. Of course it brings with it challenges which differ for each individual but there are also lots of positives to being autistic so thank you for highlighting these.

🥰If you’re a parent advocating for an autistic child in a world created for neurotypical people we know how tough this can be and we see you.
