Out of Office 💆🏻‍♂️

For the first time since I started in the clinic over a year ago I’m now taking (just over) a week off for some family time and to switch off a bit 🙌🏻

I’ll be back in at the start of September recharged and ready to see you all and give you some help in your recovery from injury.

In the meantime I will be checking messages every so often so feel free to get in touch to arrange appointments for September

See you soon ✌🏻🫡

🤕 Have you been struggling with high hamstring pain❓

🤔 does it feel like it could even be pain coming from the middle of the glutes??

Proximal Hamstring Tenidnopathy affects the hamstring tendon that attaches high up at the back of our pelvis and can result in either quite a sharp pain or a more achey and nagging type pain

When treating tendons we often start to implement some isometric exercises as they tend to be safer and well controlled as we aren’t moving through different ranges when performing them 🏋🏻‍♀️ but they allow us to start loading up the tissues to promote recovery and strength

👀 Have a look at some ideas to start to do if this is an issue you’re currently struggling with:
1️⃣ Bridge ISO
2️⃣ Long lever bridge ISO
3️⃣ Prone hamstring curl ISO
4️⃣ Feet elevated bridge ISO
5️⃣ Long lever foot elevated bridge ISO

These can all be done double leg✌🏻or single leg☝🏼 depending on tolerance and symptoms when performing

💆🏻‍♂️💆🏼‍♀️ Sports Massage 💆🏼‍♀️💆🏻‍♂️

🤔 Did you know that at DA Human Mechanics we offer an elite level of sports massage?…quite literally we have over 50 years of combined experience working in elite sports ⚽️🏉🏎️
This means over 50 years of experience providing sports massage to elite level athletes, never mind the years of experience within the private clinic, firefighters charity and NHS environments

There literally is nowhere else 🙅🏻‍♂️ in Cumbria and the South of Scotland that boasts this amount of experience to provide massage services

🤷🏻‍♂️ So what are you waiting for?
Get booked in with Dan (), Dolly (), Chris () and Becca () and start investing in your physical health 🙌🏻

👋🏼 Let me reintroduce myself👋🏼

As there’s a few new people here following my page I thought I would take a bit of time to reintroduce myself and a bit about me so that you know who you’re booking in with and being treated by…

👨🏼‍🎓 I graduated in 2012 with a Bsc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Therapy, this was then followed a few years later in 2017 graduating with a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy. I am currently in the process of completing my Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Medicine, hopefully completing this within the next year 🤞🏼

⚽️ I have spent the vast majority of my professional career working within professional football, holding roles as Head Academy Physiotherapist at Carlisle United, Under 23s and then First Team Physiotherapist at Blackburn Rovers and then most recently I was the Head Physiotherapist at Carlisle United

🤕 In June 2024 I joined the team at

🏡 Outside of work I’m also known as ‘Dad/Daddy’ to three children under 5 who keep me on my toes!
🏃🏻‍♂️I also enjoy running and playing football ⚽️ and enjoy watching both football and American football 🏈

If you, your family or friends need a physio to assess an injury or even want to book in for a sports massage and want to be seen by someone with vast experience within professional football then get in touch and I’d be delighted to help you 🙌🏻

‼️ “Don’t run…it’s bad for your joints” ‼️

Have you ever heard or been told that running 🏃🏻‍♂️ is the worst thing ❌ you can do for your knees and hips? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Well a lot of the time this is because people believe that Osteoarthritis (OA) is caused by ‘wear and tear’.
However, what we actually know about joints and cartilage in particular, is that it loves to be loaded ❤️

Cartilage is a living, dynamic tissue that adapts to mechanical stress and in fact a lack of movement and load can actually accelerate degeneration!🤕

👨🏽‍🔬 when we load up our joints we stimulate cells called chondrocytes 🧬 and these are the architects of cartilage health that do their best work under load. Through repetitive loading we actually increase production of collagen and keep cartilage healthy 💪🏼
Movement also maintains joint resilience and function over time 🏋🏻‍♀️

So next time you hear people saying that running and movement is ruining your joints just remember…movement isn’t wearing down your joints-it’s keeping them alive!
🏃🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♀️⛹🏼‍♂️🏌🏽🚴🏽🤸🏽‍♂️

Of course as always there can be caveats to this so if you are wanting to get back to exercise after joint injury but don’t know how or where to start then book in for a consultation and I’d love to work with you to get you back doing what you want to do

Final clinic of 2024 ✅
First 6months of working at ✅

I can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since I started in the clinic working alongside and , it’s been a busy start to life here…much busier than I expected it to be starting out.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone that has supported me and been in for treatment/rehab/massage over the past 6 months

I have plenty of availability going forward from January and it would be great to see you down in the clinic to help you with:
• any injury concerns you have
• to help you prepare for or recover from any events you have coming up
• assess and treat any niggles that come up as a result of any New Year fitness goals you’ve set for yourself

Hoping you all have a Happy New Year

Chris
