🦷🪥 Oral Health Education Day 🪥🦷

Yesterday Emily, Ella and Ali visited Austin Friars school to deliver presentations on the importance of good oral health and looking after your teeth. They presented to various age ranges throughout early years, Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2.

The children learned all about the function and anatomy of our teeth, the importance of a healthy diet, good brushing techniques and how visiting the dentist is important to maintain a healthy smile. We were very pleased to be asked and were very impressed with the enthusiasm of the children and their thoughtful questions! ⭐️

Our Carlisle listed building this week is No.73 Warwick Road.

The Grade II listed house, on the north side of the street, forms part of a terrace called Cavendish Place. Built in the late 1830s in Flemish bond brickwork, it has 2 storeys and 3 bays. The central panelled door has a patterned fanlight within brick reveals. It has its original brick chimney stacks, sash windows in stone architraves with a right squared bay window; others are sashes in stone architraves.

Cavendish Terrace appears in the 1837 Carlisle Directory and this property is shown on the 1842 Studholme map of Carlisle. It is now a surgery.

🦷🎉 Congratulations Ewen! 🎉🦷

Our dentist, Ewen Shand, has recently completed his Post Graduate Certificate in Implant Dentistry through the British Academy of Implant & Restorative Dentistry in Leeds. Ewen has completed a wide array of practical and clinical assessments as part of his qualification as well as being mentored at Spedding Dental Clinic by Jack Spedding, who has been placing dental implants at the practice since 2008.

On Saturday night, Jack and Ali hosted a party for the staff to celebrate 25 years of Spedding Dental Clinic. We also raised a glass to June and wished her well for her retirement! It was a fantastic night and was enjoyed by all!

Last month, Lara qualified as a Dental Nurse, after 2 years of dedication and hard work at Spedding Dental Clinic. Lara completed a number of written and practical assessments and was awarded with a Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. We are very proud of her!

Yesterday we said goodbye and happy retirement to our fantastic practice manager June. She has given 25 years to Spedding Dental Clinic!

June will be missed by both staff and patients but we wish her a well deserved retirement after all her dedication to the practice over the years. Thank you for being a special friend to us all at Spedding Dental Clinic. ⭐️
