🧠 Advice you should know…….🧠

Before I give you the context for each post, you should also know there are wayyyyy more I could do for these (stay tuned!) OR send me a DM to book your appointment so we can give you all you need to progress!

Anyway……

1) Pain doesn’t equal Problem!!
The level of pain you experience isn’t relative to the level of problem you have. Pain is complex and influenced by way more than the problem you have.
So do your best to calm the symptoms down, regulate movement and get a clear assessment.

2) You’re not broken, you’re under conditioned for your demands.
Again this is a positive message, yes things hurt, yes some issues require more attention than others. BUT with a clear assessment of your capabilities we can figure out where we need to improve you not only to get you back pain free but more robust than before!

3) Stretching may feel good, but it isn’t helping.
This is becoming common practice now! Stretching does not fix your problem. Having the understanding as to WHY it may feel “tight” is more effective than purely trying to reduce the symptom by pulling on it! And I promise, once you understand the reason why, stretching will no longer be your go to!

4) Posture equals Pain.
Another message that I feel is starting to sink in! The way you sit or stand isn’t as important as the time you stay there. Yes position influences where we hold muscular stress, but it’s the relative time there that can cause painful symptoms. Get moving and you’ll be better!

5) MRIs aren’t always helpful.
Images have a place, don’t get me wrong!! BUT, they show us the health and positions of structures. This may tell us more about your biological age than a symptomatic pathology. Be sensible and rational about the use of imaging and what it may report on.

6) The goal isn’t zero pain, it’s resilience to pain.
Pain isn’t to be feared! It’s to be understood, contextualised and framed in a way that allows us to become fitter, faster and stronger. This will then (hopefully) translate into becoming more robust and resilient people.

Thanks for reading this far!!
Once again, get in touch if you’d like a chat! 💬

🙌🏻 Let me clarify something 🙌🏻

🤩 I think my last post was maybe a little confusing?!?! 🤩

✅ What myself, Neil, Becca and Chris offer at DAHM currently is an exceptional service, and we all do our best to make sure our clients have a good understanding of their symptoms, have clear expectations and are given a sound plan going forward ✅

🧠 We have all invested heavily in our education and we share this and our experience with clients. My aim was to bring the service provided in elite/professional sports to Cumbrias community, and we all do this well! 🧠

👏🏻 I would just like to ALSO (not instead of!!) offer a more comprehensive service that not only manages injuries but also improve performances. This is an addition to what we already offer! We will continue to offer our expertise face to face as we do now and continue to so this with pride 👏🏻

💥 ONLINE REHAB - COACHING 💥

🤯 Surely you’re sick of having this ongoing, long lasting pain? 🤯

🙌🏻 Traditional physio / sports therapy of course has its place, I’m a big fan of face to face work, I’m also a big fan of manual therapy interventions! But I’m a bigger fan of having appropriate, progressive and sustained rehabilitation that takes someone from pain all the way to performance. That doesn’t have to mean being a World Champion, it can just mean completing that 5k, a half marathon PB, and importantly fixing the root cause of your issues, not just your symptoms! 🙌🏻

🤩 That’s where I come in……having spent years and years travelling the world working with World Champions, working internationally with high performers, and this level of service can be given to you!!!! But here’s the catch…..you have to show commitment!!! 🤩

🧐 I have a load of clients who go for massages every month, and personal training every week, some have their own online coach for running, gym etc….BUT I can give you all of that, a 360 degree service! Specialist led, evidence informed, progressive management of injuries and health and fitness!! 🧐

💥 Why you should consider SHOCKWAVE THERAPY here DAHM 💥

🔥 Shockwave Therapy (SWT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic pressure waves applied to the skin to stimulate healing in painful or slow-to-recover musculoskeletal tissues. It’s widely used in physiotherapy, sports medicine, and MSK clinics and is usually performed as a course of 4-6 sessions for best results 🔥

❤️‍🩹 Shockwave stimulates the body’s own repair processes:
• 🔹 Increases local blood flow
• 🔹 Stimulates collagen production
• 🔹 Promotes tissue regeneration
• 🔹 Reduces pain by desensitising nerve endings
• 🔹 Breaks down chronic scar tissue and calcification
• 🔹 Triggers a controlled inflammatory response that “restarts” healing in stubborn injuries

Shockwave is especially effective for chronic tendon and soft-tissue pain, including:

• Plantar fasciitis / heel pain
• Achilles tendinopathy
• Patellar tendinopathy
• Tennis & golfer’s elbow
• Shoulder tendinopathy / calcific tendinitis
• Gluteal tendinopathy
• Medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints)
• Myofascial trigger points

💰 So if you want a cost effective treatment with well organised rehabilitation then this will save you your money in the long run as it is a much more capable treatment option 💰

📱 If you’re interested in seeing if this would benefit you and you’re symptoms, send me a DM or follow the link below to book your appointment 📱

🏃🏻 💨 Day 12 of your DAHM running related tips and tricks!

💪🏻 todays post lets us know about the quadriceps muscles and the importance of them.

🦵 Especially if you have knee pain this and the next few posts will be you out!!

🙌🏻 The quads as a group of muscles straighten then leg, and can lift the knee up to the front. Whilst we are in contact with the floor the quads isometrically co tract to help absorb the load, prevent the knee from moving any further forward so we can move our body weight towards the toes and push off!!

🤨 Because of this load, the knee can often be a common area for pain and injury in the running community. So follow on for the next few post for a run down of knee injuries!

As always, tag those who would benefit from hearing about these, comment for some advice and share away!
