👓 Important Update for Drivers Over 70
UK Driving Licence Changes – Effective 1 October 2025

🕒 Renewal Frequency
• Still every 3 years — no change for most drivers.

🩺 Health & Vision Checks
• Medical assessments may be required.
• Eye tests could become compulsory.
• These updates aim to keep roads safe while supporting your independence.

💻 Easier Renewals
• If you're healthy, you might qualify for 5-year renewals.
• Online applications will be simpler, possibly using NHS records.

✅ What You Can Do
• Book regular eye tests — we’re happy to help!
• Report any health changes to the DVLA (e.g. eyesight, epilepsy, dementia).
OVER 60'S RECOMMENDED TO HAVE A EYE TEST EVERY 12 MONTH (free under NHS Scotland)
• You can still drive while waiting for renewal if your last licence was valid and you're medically fit

We’ve added an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) camera to provide detailed retinal images using light, just like sonar uses sound. This technology can detect eye diseases up to 5 years earlier, leading to better treatment outcomes.
It diagnoses conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, optic neuritis, and detached retina.
Over 50? We recommend adding an OCT test to your normal FREE NHS eye exam for just £15.
