✨ Client of the Week ✨

This lovely family came to me wanting to get back to more breastfeeding after slow weight gain and needing to top up.

⏱️ Just 3 days after our consult:
💬 “She’s put on 140g from last week, and that’s only 3 days of tweaking latch and top-ups, so we are so happy ❤️”

➡️ Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

If you’ve been told to “just keep topping up” and it’s not sitting right — you’re not alone.

📩 Want to get support to help you move forward not just tread water like this? DM me.

✨ Client of the Week ✨

She came to me with ongoing pain despite being told her latch was "good."

24 hours later → “It’s so pain free it almost doesn’t feel right!” 💕

Every drop of breast milk is packed with powerful components which benefit your baby. From boosting immunity to supporting growth and gut health every drop really does count.

And THIS is why specialist feeding support can make the difference.

And THIS is why specialist feeding support can make the difference.

I had a lovely phone call this week, from the mother of a baby I saw very recently.

Baby had a notable tongue tie that could be described as posterior, very significant reflux and was very unsettled

We didn’t cut the tongue tie.

We made some changes to feeding technique, this was a bottlefed baby so there hadn’t really been a lot of support previously.

We discussed the obvious muscular tension that was present and discussed the possibility of an osteopath referral (cautioning that the evidence for osteopathy in bottlefed babies isn’t yet there)

They went away and tried these things with a plan to cut the tie if no improvement.
There was big improvement! Reflux has stopped, baby is comfortable. Everyone is happy. All from some tiny feeding changes and an osteopath visit.

Tongue tie division is not always needed. It is not ‘just a little snip’. sometimes it’s very appropriate, sometimes it’s a risk we don’t need to take

SURVEY - Mother’s experiences of access to International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) support in the UK

Please complete this survey from a student doing her PhD, lets try and get more access to IBCLCs 🙂

Mother’s experiences of access to International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) support in the UK

We are conducting research to understand who accesses IBCLC support in the UK and what facilitates this access. You do not need to have breastfed, and you do not need to have received support from an IBCLC to take part.

As a thank you we would like to offer participants the opportunity to be placed in a prize draw to win one of 10 x £20 Love2Shop vouchers.

This is a Swansea University research project led by Emily Lunny as part of a PhD study, supervised by Dr Catrin Griffiths and Professor Amy Brown from the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences. You can contact Emily, Catrin or Amy for further details of the research.

Email Emily: 2457218@swansea.ac.uk
Email Catrin: c.r.griffiths@swansea.ac.uk
Email Amy: a.e.brown@swansea.ac.uk

The research has been approved by the Health and Social Care Research Ethics Committee (approval number 2 2025 13501 13457).

Our research aims to understand mothers’ experiences of accessing IBCLC support in the UK, whether they chose to or were able to access IBCLC support or not.

We understand that talking about infant feeding experiences can be upsetting if things didn’t go to plan. Please contact the Birth Trauma Association or any of the breastfeeding support associations in the UK if this is upsetting for you.
La Leche League: https://laleche.org.uk/
The Breastfeeding Network: https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/
Association of Breastfeeding Mothers: https://abm.me.uk/
The Birth Trauma Association: https://www.birthtraumaassociation.org/

As part of this we are looking for mothers to complete a survey that will take between 20 – 30 minutes depending on how much you would like to say. Our survey will remain open for the next 4 weeks from 24th July to 21st August 2025.

We would like to hear from parents who:

• Are based in the UK
• Had a baby between May 2021 and May 2025
• Breastfed, formula fed, combination fed or anything in between

We would like to hear from mothers and parents no matter how they fed their baby, and whether they received IBCLC support or not.

If you’d like to take part please click the link for further information and the survey questions https://swanseachhs.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8uGyfv2Nl3ugWZ8 The

Does it really matter which chart we use to plot baby’s weight?
Yes. And here’s a real example why.

In this case, a baby boy was being tracked using the girl's chart. Everything looked fine — but when we plotted him on the correct boy chart, it showed he’d dropped off the chart and met faltering growth criteria.

⚠️ Same baby. Same weights. Very different interpretation.

If your baby’s chart doesn’t feel right, or you’ve been told “it doesn’t matter” — it’s worth checking again. Mistakes like this can delay support.

📊 Correct charting matters. Always.

🧠 Let’s talk plagiarism, integrity, and professional standards.

In early 2025, I enrolled on a sleep course that — on the surface — aligned with my values and experience. But as I moved through the content, things didn’t feel right.

🟣 This is my experience. I share it to encourage integrity and transparency in our field.

I recently undertook a "holistic sleep coach' course and honestly wish I’d just gone straight to the original Holistic Sleep Coaching Program™.

Plagiarism isn’t just a technicality — it’s a matter of integrity.
Swipe through to see why I felt compelled to speak up.

I won’t be naming the course I took, but I hope this post encourages you to do your homework if you're considering a sleep certification.
