26th August was National Dog Day;

Having an animal is good for emotional wellbeing, as studies show interactions with pets can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by lowering cortisol levels and increasing "feel-good" chemicals like oxytocin. Pets also provide valuable companionship, reduce loneliness, encourage more physical activity, and can give a sense of purpose through daily routines and care.

Here at Celtic Hearing, we don't have a dog, we have a Sheldon who is very vocal.

If you need a Hearing Test to ensure that you can hear your pets at all times, call:-

How often should you have your hearing tested?

If you wear hearing aids, it's recommended to have your hearing tested at least once a year. Regular checkups help ensure your devices are properly programmed to your current hearing levels and performing at their best.

If you don't wear hearing aids and haven't noticed any hearing issues, a hearing test every 2 to 3 years is a good routine - especially if you're over 50 or work in noisy environments.

Early detection of hearing changes can make a big difference.

Keeping your hearing health in check is just as important as caring for your vision or teeth. Don't wait until you notice a problem.

If your hearing test is overdue, contact us today to book your appointment:-

Imagine dining in a busy restaurant. In the background there are dishes clattering, chairs scraping, people talking and laughing, and waiters rushing about. You are straining to follow what is happening at your table – and the effort of doing this is starting to make you feel more and more tired.

ventually, you start pretending you can hear. You nod, look interested and laugh with the crowd even though you didn’t get the jokes. You begin to feel left out. When you leave the restaurant you have a throbbing headache, disappointment and no plans to repeat the experience anytime soon.

HEARING LOSS DIFFERS FROM VISION LOSS:-

As with the eye, the ear’s performance is affected by ageing. However, bad vision gradually makes reading harder as the letters get smaller, but hearing loss is different.

Hearing loss can make certain syllables and sounds harder to hear. For example, high-pitched consonants like f, s and t are easily drowned out by louder, low-pitched vowels like a, o and u. This results in a person with hearing loss complaining that they can hear others are talking, but not what they are saying.

Here are some fun facts about ears: they are self-cleaning, they contribute to balance, and they never stop growing throughout your lifetime.

Additionally, the three smallest bones in the body are located in the middle ear, and your ears are constantly processing sounds, even while you sleep. 😴
