We have today received the latest Covid-19 Funeral update from Pembrokeshire County Council which can be found below.
FACE MASKS
Mandatory signs are now visible at the entry door to the crematorium and office buildings, masks must be worn by anyone aged 11 and over until they depart the building, unless you have a reasonable excuse not to wear a face covering if (for example):
· They are not able to put on or wear a face covering because of a physical or mental illness, or because of a disability or impairment;
· They are accompanying somebody who relies on lip reading where they need to communicate; or
· They are escaping from a threat or danger and don’t have a face covering.
Service officiates must also comply when entering the building, and may if they wish remove their face covering temporarily whilst standing at the lectern delivering the service, this is to aid anyone which is reliant on lip reading within the congregation and will provide the webcast microphone with a loud and clear voice for remote broadcasting purposes. A screen is in the process of being made to fit our lectern, we anticipate installation by the end of the week, and together with more than 2m social distancing will help to provide safe environment for everyone within the Chapel.
MOURNER NUMBERS
Anyone attending a funeral should be by invite only by the organiser of the funeral i.e Applicant, it is therefore pertinent that those organising should also limit information about the location of the funeral in death notices and make clear that attendance at the funeral is by invitation only.
The increase from 12 mourners to 20 has worked successfully and safely over the last several weeks, and at the time of emailing it was said we would look to increase this if we found it was safe to do so, therefore as of Wednesday16th September we shall introduce the following changes to mourner attendance:
Cremation Service @ Parc Gwyn
Inside - seated 12 mourners maximum, all chairs are spaced at 2m prior to entry of the Chapel, families may choose to move chairs as they wish to suit their own households and must practice social distancing to those that are not within their household.
Outside - 18 mourners, to stand socially distanced where required to do so under the entrance canopy. Outside mourners must not stand directly in front of the chapel entry doors and at the end of the service they must not enter the chapel an should disperse as quickly as possible back to their cars, this is to ensure that the building can vacated as quickly as possible and for surface sanitizing before the following funeral can take place.
Burial graveside service @ Pembrokeshire County Council Cemeteries
Outside – Maximum of 30 mourners to stand graveside socially distanced within their relevant households.
Please take note that if mourners do not adhere to social distancing and number restrictions we may have to review this change.
