Stalking is a crime type that is largely misunderstood, but one that leaves victims feeling isolated, vulnerable, and living in constant fear.
It includes behaviours such as repeatedly following someone, making unwanted phone calls or turning up at the same places โฆ behaviours that, when taken in isolation can appear harmless.
However, the repeated, unwanted and fixated behaviours that define stalking are intended to intimidate, scare, and control victims, with life-changing and long-lasting effects on victimsโ physical and mental health.
This week, as part of Stalking Awareness Week, weโll be sharing the signs of stalking, how to report stalking behaviours to police and where to find support.
