The Myth of Sang Hyang Guru & the Birth of the Gong ✨

In Javanese mythology, there’s a beautiful story about how the gong came into being. The divine king Sang Hyang Guru, who ruled from the mythical mountain of Maendra, needed a way to call the other gods to his palace.

🌟 First, he created a gong to send out a simple signal across the heavens.
🌟 Then, as his messages became more complex, he crafted two more gongs of different pitches, and together they formed the very first gamelan orchestra.

This myth shows us that the gong was never just an instrument it was born as a way to connect, communicate, and bring beings together.
