Wonderful to support my student thesis supervisee Simon Wiersma(now dance movement therapy graduate) in his incredible presentation about his research in forensic settings. I assessed DMT presentations and witnessed compelling performances as part of their work. What a wonderful way to integrate practical and theoretical aspects for maximum engagement. Thank you for the invitation and .pauline for coordinating.

Beaming with pride at the MA Arts Practice (Arts, Health & Wellbeing) student presentations network meeting today. They really show the importance of communicating about our health, raising awareness of lived experience with medical conditions such as diabetes and endometriosis, and the vital importance of multicultural cohesion. The meeting centred on the positive impact processing life through art makes on a wide variety of communities. Thank you WAHWN for this opportunity and to the creative health sector for supporting our projects.

We have 2 new professional roles open for applications and we can’t wait to hear from you!

ARTS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Supported thanks to Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru | Arts Council of Wales and with funds raised by players of the People's Postcode Lottery, the Arts Business Development Manager will play a leading role in shaping and delivering the growth strategy for Fflamingo CIC and House of Deviant. Working closely with our Creative Director, producers, artists and collaborators, you will lead on income generation, develop sustainable business models, and expand our reach and partnerships across the UK and beyond.

This is a hybrid role, blending strategic planning with hands-on delivery. We are looking for a creative thinker and relationship builder – someone who can spot opportunities, write compelling proposals, and work collaboratively with others to build a more inclusive cultural sector.

FREELANCE CREATIVE PRACTITIONER

Thanks to celfcymruarts we are looking for individuals who can bring a range of professional creative skills to our project. You will be working with us to coproduce a fabulous, exciting and dynamic project exploring drag performance and personal transformation.

You will be expected to deliver a series of workshops exploring how your area of expertise can build our skills in drag performance, as well as developing and building on general performance skills (It's worth noting here that direct experience in drag performance is not essential, it is the skill set that we are interested in).
You will be provided with time to talk to us, observe, plan, and deliver a series of sessions that will challenge and develop our skillset, knowledge and confidence.

The second university which has opened its doors to dance movement therapy during my mobility is de Chile. Last week the Clinical Psychology Department hosted a workshop on Embodied Skills in Research at its Santiago campus. Wonderful connections made between the role of the body in gaining perspective on research projects and the interpersonal interactions in research team. I am now in the southern region in Pucón and Temuco this week to visit their campus there and hold another workhop today .pucon . Grateful to make links that help develop University of South Wales’s research strategy in Health and Wellbeing and connect me further with the Chilean Dance Movement Therapy Association (ADMT Chile ).

Thank you to the centre Director and to ADMT Chile President for the invitation and coordination, and for the support.

Life changing sickness is a commonality that connects many artists' otherwise disparate practices across decades, genres and lifetimes. Deserters asks, ‘What is the relationship between illness and making? ‘Good health’ has obvious merit – but what about the value of ‘ill health’?’

curated by Bella Kerr and Caroline Humphreys, supported by USW curator Zoë Gingell.
Funded by Arts Council of Wales and the University of South Wales.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Society draws a line between the healthy and the sick; mind and body; good and bad. Artists often occupy the fault line between these definitions and while illness, a common theme in art and literature, can be seen as a symbol of alienation, it can also be the key to ‘desertion’ into a creative space.

This exhibition brings together the work of 12 artists: Jenny Alderton, Delphi Campbell, Hal Camplin, Laura Dutton, Johannes Gérard, Dave Gowers, Steph Mastoris, Charlotte Morgan, Jack Moyse, Nel, Tracie Peisley and Katya Robin, to reveal themes and modes that can be broadly described as: abstraction, repetition and pattern making; nature and healing; lying down while the world stands up; the body – whole and in parts; words and printed text. In addition to the main funded project, the website will also feature work by other artists who are showing their work online.

Supported by Zoë Gingell, curator of Oriel Y Bont, Caroline Humphreys and Bella Kerr are co-curating Deserters, alongside Amanda Roderick, who is also creating its online presence.

The project is co-funded by the Arts Council Wales Create Fund, the University of South Wales and by the extra, unpaid time and goodwill of all the exhibitors, curators and other contributors.

please let me know if you are able to attend.

Many thanks

Zoë Gingell
