Steve Baker has been entrenched in the world of sport and rehabilitation for most of his life in one way or another. Growing up in Whitehaven, Cumbria, he spent a lot of time scrambling, running, climbing and cycling through the Lakes before joining the army at 16. He quickly gravitated towards the Physical Training Corps where he was able to pursue his athletic interests while learning the trade
of physical rehabilitation. Competing in running, cycling and triathlon including completing a full ironman as well as gymnastics, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, weight lifting, skiing etc Steve has a particularly broad understanding of the strain a variety of sports can have on the body which also enhances his insight into injuries caused by everyday life. Becoming a successful athlete himself with many coaching qualifications, his combined knowledge gained from recovering from his own injuries, helping soldiers recover from theirs as well as his interest in human anatomy drove him to pursue a career in physiotherapy. As a physio, he is a compassionate and patient therapist who will never give up and help you find strength you didn't know you had left. Fuelled by a desire to help people truly improve their health, he has now launched Compete Physio; making physiotherapy an empowering experience where clients are given the tools and support to push through their injuries and prevent future ones.
