🩵 Today marks International Nurses Day🩵

Celebrating our Practice Nurse team here at the Surgery along with our Healthcare Assistants, Community Nurses and all Nursing staff!

Thankyou for all your hardwork and care you give 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Today, we celebrate and say thank you to all of the nurses working across our services and centres.

International Nurses Day is held each year on the 12th of May, celebrating the birth date of Florence Nightingale. It serves as a special reminder of the remarkable and compassionate contributions nurses make around the world.

Our very own NHS 24 nurses are part of this worldwide community, delivering vital health care in Scotland, and today, we recognise you. THANK YOU 💓

♻️SAFE MEDICINE DISPOSAL!♻️

Did you know that if you have unwanted, unused or expired prescription medicines you can simply take them to any pharmacy for safe disposal!
This is a free service available to the public. It is not safe to put unwanted or expired medicines in household bins.

💊Stockpiling of Medicines:
Any medicine you return to the pharmacy cannot be used again. It’s therefore very important that you don’t stockpile medication at home and only request medication that you need.
Stockpiling is dangerous because of the possibility of mixing up new and old medicines, and it also poses a safety risk to children and others who might accidentally take them.
Every year, over £300 million of NHS money is wasted on unused prescription medicines.
Would you order more if you had to pay for it and you had it already??🤔
Please only order what you need!!!

💊Safe Disposal of Medicines:
Each year, large quantities of unused and expired medications are thrown into bins or flushed down toilets and sinks.
The effects on the environment and human health are unclear, but evidence suggests the presence of chemicals from prescription and over-the-counter medications in soil, drinking water, and the surrounding environment.
It’s very important that you return unwanted medicines to a local pharmacy for safe disposal.

♻️Please speak to a member of our staff if you have any questions about disposing of unwanted medicines.

🛑PLEASE REMOVE THE UNUSED MEDICINES FROM OUTSIDE CARDBOARD PACKAGING AND REMOVE THE PATIENTS PERSONNEL LABELS OR BLACK PEN OVER THESE DETAILS BEFORE HANDING THEM INTO PHARMACIES‼️

🛑NOTE THAT WE DO NOT RECYCLE EMPTY BLISTER PACKS‼️

♻️Note that Monifieth South Angus Church of Scotland on the High Street have a recycling box for empty blister packs.✅
