Using Kinesiology to unlock peak performance

When we talk about elite athletic performance, few names resonate like Novak Djokovic. But behind his record-breaking career lies a fascinating story of self-discovery and holistic health…one that includes the powerful role of kinesiology.

Kinesiology, played a crucial part in Djokovic's transformation both on and off the court.

Struggling with health issues early in his career, Djokovic turned to applied kinesiology and muscle testing to uncover hidden food intolerances, muscular imbalances, and energy blockages.

Through kinesiology sessions and adopting recommended lifestyle changes, he was able to fine-tune his body’s mechanics, improve his recovery, and achieve mental clarity.

Djokovic identified these key benefits of Kinesiology:

✅ Identifying Food Sensitivities: Using muscle testing, Djokovic discovered a gluten intolerance that had been affecting his energy levels and endurance. Eliminating gluten dramatically improved his stamina and focus.

✅ Balancing the Body's Energy: Kinesiology helped him rebalance his nervous system and optimise muscle coordination, essential for fast reactions and injury prevention in tennis.

✅ Holistic Health Awareness: Beyond physical fitness, kinesiology opened Djokovic to a broader understanding of emotional and mental well-being, helping him cultivate mindfulness and resilience under pressure.

✅ Enhanced Recovery & Performance: By addressing imbalances in his muscle coordination, Djokovic improved his movement efficiency, reducing fatigue and enhancing his speed on the court.

Djokovic’s story is a testament to the power of looking beyond conventional modalities.

Kinesiology, when combined with nutrition, mindfulness, and physical conditioning, can unlock untapped potential in both athletes and anyone seeking optimal health.

It really is a game changer!

PERI & POST MENOPAUSE - Some helpful Do's and Don'ts

There are many ways of alleviating the symptoms of peri or post menopause using herbs, vitamins and minerals, and making small dietary changes.

The key is to understand what is going on in your body and what route will help you most. Your local Kinesiologist can help you get clarity on this...why guess when you can muscle test?!

Another thing to consider is whether you are ingesting XENOESTROGENS; synthetic industrial chemicals found in a variety of plastics (as well as in sealants, consumer products, preservatives, and insecticides).

Xenoestrogens can have a phenomenally negative effect on some people's hormone health (and they can affect men as well as women).

✅THE DO'S - Here are some ways of avoiding ingesting xeno-oestrogens:

Use glass, stainless steel or BPA-free bottles for water and drinks
Use glass or ceramic containers in a microwave (ensure they are microwave safe)
Use a plastic or silicon splash guard over food in the microwave, ensuring these are not touching the food
Or use a plate to cover food while heating - please be careful of your fingers and face when you remove the plate!

❌THE DON'TS - Here are some tips on how to protect yourself from xenoestrogens:

Don't leave plastic bottles in the car and then drink the water in them
Don't re-fill plastic water bottles more than about 3 or 4 times
Don't microwave food or drink in plastic containers
Don't have hot drinks or food in Styrofoam
If using clingfilm, don't let it touch hot food or food heated in a microwave

These small changes can make a MASSIVE difference to your hormone health.

Fantastic training last month focusing on food sensitivity testing. By using the muscles associated with the digestive system you can muscle test common sensitivities against these muscles. It’s great to support clients with IBS symptoms, giving them the opportunity to tailor their food choices to suit their symptoms.

Kinesiology is one of the fastest growing modalities in the UK!

However, we often get asked what it is and how it works so this post gives a short explanation of the magic that happens in a session.

💪Kinesiologists use muscle response testing as a way of getting biofeedback from your body.

Kinesiology is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each muscle we test is linked to one of the five elements, a meridian (energy pathway), an organ and an emotion.

If a muscle tests strong or locked, we know that the body is in balance in that corresponding 'system'. If a muscle tests weak/unlocks or is hypertonic (overly strong), we know there is an imbalance in that system or circuit.

We then work to restore balance to all of the areas the body has confirmed are priority through muscle testing. There may be physical, biochemical, emotional or electrical (energetic) imbalances. Often there are imbalances in all 4 realms.

Using specific tools and techniques such as; massaging neuro lymphatic points, holding neuro vascular points, running meridians to encourage the flow of energy, emotional stress release, nutritional support and electrical balancing, Kinesiologists make corrections to bring the body back into a state of homeostasis.

Not only will you immediately feel different and more relaxed, your body will confirm through a strong muscle response that a natural balanced state has been restored.

Kinesiology is like MAGIC! ✨ Many of our clients describe it this way too.

There are many benefits to choosing Kinesiology for your health and wellbeing needs.

Here are just a few of them:
✅It's natural and promotes natural self-healing
✅It heals the issue at the root rather than treating the symptom
✅It's holistic
✅It focuses on the whole person
✅It's simple
✅It's non-invasive
✅It's effective and long-lasting

Food sensitivity testing through muscle testing is really great for clients who have been to the doctors with IBS symptoms and are not able to understand which food specifically could be causing their symptoms.

🍞🍊FOOD SENSITIVITY TESTING

Did you know that through Kinesiology and food sensitivity testing, you can confirm:

✅food intolerances;

✅which foods are giving your body energy;

✅which foods your body is struggling with?

❗What you eat is fundamental to your overall health.

If you're eating foods that your body doesn’t process well, it can lead to mental as well as physical problems over time.

Some examples of food related symptoms include tiredness, brain fog, bloating, joint pain, energy loss, inability to lose weight, low mood or anxiety, headaches, stomach pains, constipation and diarrhoea, eczema, spots or acne and even hyperactivity in children.

Finding out which foods may be contributing to these symptoms is key in returning you to full health and wellbeing.

Food testing with kinesiology is simple and non-invasive. During a session, foods or energetic food vials are placed on the body and a muscle test is carried out.

If the muscle weakens we know that particular food is draining the body of energy, or in other words, the body is intolerant or sensitive to that food.

🪱Food sensitivity testing is always carried out as part of a wider & thorough digestive balancing session because if you have sensitivities it’s VERY likely there is some kind of imbalance in the gut.

Our Kinesiologists will balance the body in a holistic way addressing any underlying emotional factors, confirming any vitamin or mineral deficiencies and finding the right supplements for your unique case, working on any structural issues and ensuring there is flow in your energy systems.

Do you know how much training our Practitioners have to go through to become a qualified Kinesiologist?

✅First of all, they need to complete our FOUNDATION training.
Usually 12 full days of training (usually run over 6 weekends), they learn about the body, it’s systems and what it needs to return to balance.

At the end of the course, they're able to help friends and family with their health and wellbeing. Practitioners of other modalities who complete our training find that their new muscle testing skills are an invaluable addition to their existing practices.

✅Next is DIPLOMA training.
This is the highest level of training and after 24 days of class training and coaching (usually run over 12 weekends), with 50 case studies, written assignments and presentations and a final assessment from an Independent Assessor, they'll qualify as a professional Kinesiology Practitioner. At this level, they can also register with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council).

The learning and accreditation doesn't stop there!

We also require that all of our Diploma Practitioners have a:
✅an ITEC level 3 equivalent qualification in Anatomy and Physiology (A&P)
✅an ITEC level 3 equivalent qualification in Nutrition
✅and a valid First Aid Certificate

Finally, all of our Practitioners must meet the annual CPD requirements.

They have access to Tutors and other Professional Kinesiologists on private forums throughout their training, which continues after qualification.

You can see why online courses really don't cut it in comparison to the level and depth our students go into, and why Insurers or Professional Associations won't recognise online certification.

Our Foundation and Diploma courses are run by our qualified Tutors. Visit our website https://www.kinesiologyassociation.org/training-in-kinesiology.aspx to find out more!

I love my job supporting adults and children with their health and wellbeing 😊

Kinesiology is all about releasing stress and returning the body to homeostasis (balance).

Kinesiologists check for imbalances using muscle response testing. They can identify exactly which ‘realm’ the stress or imbalance is held in and make relevant corrections during the session. The 4 realms are: Physical, Biochemical, Emotional/Mental, Energetic/Electrical.

One of the biochemical aspects we look into is deficiencies in vitamins and minerals.

The way our food is harvested and processed means that it can difficult to get all we need from our diets, particularly if stress levels are high or your body isn't absorbing or using the nutrients properly.

Here are 5 of the most common deficiencies we find in clients and what can happen if we don't have enough:

🪫B12 - tiredness, weakness, tingling or weakness in the hands & feet, increased heart rate, poor appetite

🪫Magnesium - muscle spasms, cramps, asthma, poor mental health, irregular heartbeat, low/high blood pressure & blood sugar

🪫Omega 3 - skin, hair & nail issues, sleep problems, difficulty concentrating, joint pain, stiffness, increased risk of heart disease

🪫Vitamin A - fatigue, risk of illness & infection, reduced vision, poor skin health. In severe cases, vitamin A deficiency can increase the risk of infertility & miscarriage

🪫Vitamin D - lower immunity, weaker muscles, less bone mass, less calcium absorption

Everybody is unique so it's not just about taking ALL THE THINGS in the hope we reach optimum levels!

It is much better (and cheaper!) to find the nutritional support YOUR body needs by going see your local Kinesiologist.

Support your gut through the winter season !

Support your gut through the winter season !

As much as we promote natural health here at the KA, we know that sometimes what we need for bacterial infections is a course of antibiotics.

However, we can still look after our gut microbiome (bacteria) both during and after a course of antibiotics by taking probiotics.
Sadly, antibiotics don’t only kill off the harmful bacteria; they kill off the good stuff too, which negatively impacts the gut microbiome.

We need a balanced microbiome in the gut because it is responsible for keeping you healthy and has many tasks including: helping digestion, nutrient production, immune response and good mental health.

You might be wondering, won’t the antibiotics kill off the probiotics as well?

It’s true that they may kill off some of the probiotics, but on the whole, taking them does reduce the negative side effects of antibiotics.

There are many strains of probiotic out there and each has a different purpose and effect on the body. For example, Lactobacillus rhamnosus is good for antibiotic related diarrhoea.

One of the probiotics that we find tests well with clients is Saccharomyces Boulardii. The other benefit with this probiotic is that it doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge. In individual cases, we would use muscle testing to confirm exactly which probiotic the body needs and for how long but if you were to take Saccharomyces Boulardii during your course of antibiotics and for at least a month afterwards, you wouldn’t be going far wrong!

You could also increase your probiotic intake through nutrition like:
🤩Kombucha
🤩Yogurt
🤩Kimchi
🤩Sauerkraut (refrigerated type as it will contain the live cultures you need)
🤩Kefir
🤩Pickles (again, refrigerated is best)

As an additional note, staying on the same probiotic for too long, may also cause issues. Therefore, if you need to take probiotics for longer than three or four months, we recommend changing both the strain and brand of probiotic to maintain gut wellness.

Or even better, book an appointment with your local kinesiologist to find out EXACTLY what your body needs!

To all hayfever sufferers out there ...

Do you suffer with Hayfever around this time of year? 🌸

Here are 5 tips to help you manage seasonal allergies naturally:

1️⃣Source some local honey and take a spoonful a day in the couple of months leading up to and during your usual hay fever period

2️⃣Try drinking nettle tea - it’s one of nature’s natural antihistamines and can help to relieve symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes and a runny nose

3️⃣Boost your immune system with supplements such as magnesium, quercetin, turmeric, vitamins A, C, D & E, NAC and probiotics and/or the homeopathic remedy, A.Vogel Pollinosan… even better, instead of guessing, go and see your local kinesiologist so they can muscle test you and find out EXACTLY which of these your body will benefit from!

4️⃣Reduce your intake of dairy to reduce mucous production which will make symptoms worse

5️⃣Increase your intake of garlic - it’s best eaten raw and is a natural anti-inflammatory and antihistamine. If you can’t stomach that, try taking garlic tablets. Not only will it boost your immune system, it also acts as a natural decongestant and can help to relieve symptoms.
