We are a family run farm filled with Friesian horses. Immersed in nature and infatuated by these truly magical creatures. We are also fortunate enough to call the Lake District, Cumbria 🇬🇧 home! We strive to create a relaxed, happy environment, surrounded by nature! For both our horses and humans (you!) to enjoy and benefit from! Friesian horse education and wellness is at the heart of everything we do. Furthermore, we are also extremely passionate about sharing these magnificent creatures with others - you! Because the smiles our horses bring to peoples faces, faces of all ages from all backgrounds, are priceless 🖤

Being with any animal (whether that is physically or virtually) is an honour and privilege, one which we must never take for granted. Because what they give to us, as humans, is something so incredible that its intangible. Friesian horses in Particular are especially incredible - they are simply magical! Friesians are powerful, striking, elegant and impressionable creatures who are kind, understanding and gentle. Friesians are extremely charismatic beings and our horses in particular are all HUGE characters, all in their own way - they are people too! Far superior to humans in fact; as they don't judge or discriminate, they don't care about who you are or what you have. They have the unique ability to look at you and see nothing but your soul; not only can they see your soul, they can enhance it

Which is why we share all of our horses and their amazing energy, qualities and aura with all of you - our horses are your horses too! You can visit your Friesian family in person, as we offer a whole range of bespoke and unique Friesian Experiences so you can come and experience their magic in person! Or you can enjoy them virtually, as even though a screen, these magnificent horses still have the power to make you feel good. We take everything we do with the horses and their care very seriously. However, we go about everything in a light hearted relaxed way - as it's the best way 😁🤪🥰

A rolling stallion gathers no moss. STER and UK Champion stallion, Wouter. A perfect gentleman, sweet-natured and hardworking, Wouter sadly passed away in 2014 at the tender age of seven, and now rests beneath his apple tree in our memorial orchard.

We are delighted to launch The Spirit of Greenbank Quilt Raffle! This stunning quilt has been lovingly made by the wonderful Quilting Queen Diane Cox and has been created in memory of all those we have loved and lost over the years. It is inspired by a Friesian jigsaw puzzle design, with imagery that reminds us of a young Hidde.

✨ Perfect as a wall hanging or a throw – and it could be yours!

🎟️ Tickets are just £5 each, with the raffle taking place on Wednesday 25 March at 16:00 GMT on YouTube Live.

Our Story

Welcome to `The Friesian Experience’ based in the picturesque Cartmel village, in Cumbria, south of the Lake District.

Friesian horses consume our lives and nothing gives us more pleasure than being able to let others spend some time with these wonderful horses that we are so privileged to own. Perhaps you are thinking of buying a Friesian or simply have a passion for the breed and want to learn more about them? Or, as an experienced rider you want to find out what they are like to ride, or have a go at carriage driving, we tailor our 'Experience Days' to suit you. Please take a look at www.thefriesianexperience.org for more information on our bespoke experience days, photoshoot opportunities and Friesian related merchandise.

As a ‘not for profit’ organisation, we also offer short and long term sanctuary to Friesian horses in need. As specialists in the breed, we can help owners who may be facing hard times and find they are unable to care for their Friesian in the short term or are having difficulties understanding their characteristics.

To help support the care of the horses in 2019 we launched a very unique accommodation here at the farm. Our unique StableStays are the first of its kind worldwide, allowing visitors to spend a night or two in our self-catering accommodation. You can enjoy a lovely evening with a very special stablemate sleeping right next to you, where you can spend time with one of our Friesians or our cheeky miniature Shetland ‘JB'.
