Last week in class, we began gently exploring yoga philosophy through movement, breath, and rest.

Our focus was Ahimsa — kindness and non-harming.
Not as a rule, but as an invitation.

We practised choosing what felt supportive rather than pushing, noticing how our bodies respond when we soften effort and listen more closely. For many, that kindness showed up as taking options, resting when needed, or simply letting the breath be as it was.

This week, we gently build on that foundation with our next theme: Satya — often translated as truth or honesty.

In yoga, Satya isn’t about brutal honesty or judgment.
It’s about being truthful with ourselves — especially with our bodies.

✨ What feels true for me today?
✨ What do I actually need in this moment?
✨ Can I honour where I am, rather than where I think I “should” be?

As always, nothing to fix, nothing to get right.
Just a little more awareness, a little more permission to be real.

If you’re joining us this week, come exactly as you are — that’s already Satya in practice 💛

Join us Wednesdays 10-11.30am @ Spital Pavilion

A new year often brings that familiar feeling ✨
A fresh start.
Good intentions.
Plans to feel better in our bodies and minds.

January arrives full of motivation… and yet, year after year, so many New Year’s resolutions quietly fade.

For most people, that motivation lasts a few weeks — sometimes only the first 7–14 days. It starts strong because it’s emotional. But emotions pass. Life gets busy, stress returns, progress feels slow, and old habits slip back in because they feel familiar and safe.

This doesn’t happen because people are lazy or lack discipline.
Real change is hard — especially when movement feels daunting, painful, or overwhelming.

We often try to change our behaviour without changing how supported we feel. And without structure, guidance and gentle encouragement, willpower alone isn’t enough.

This is something gentle yoga and chair yoga understand deeply.

Yoga isn’t about forcing the body or pushing through discomfort.
It’s about meeting yourself where you are.

The body may resist before it softens.
The mind may doubt before it trusts.
Confidence grows slowly — through safe, supported, consistent practice 🧘‍♀️

This is what gentle and chair yoga teach us about sustainable change:

• Progress comes from showing up just as you are

• Small, steady movements create real change

• Support and guidance make growth feel safer

• Lasting wellbeing comes when movement fits into real life

As we move into 2026, more people are looking for balance, ease and sustainable wellbeing, not intense workouts or quick fixes.

So perhaps the most important question this year isn’t:

“What do I need to change?”

But instead:

“What kind of support would help me feel more at ease in my body?”

✨ If this resonates, you’d be very welcome in my gentle and chair yoga classes.
There’s no pressure, no expectations, and no need to be flexible or experienced.
Just a calm space to move gently, breathe, and reconnect at your own pace.

Well that’s it - classes in 2025 officially wrapped up!

This year I’ve seen record attendance from so many of you and want to send you my heartfelt thanks for not only choosing me for your yoga practice and teacher but also for you choosing YOU!

I feel so honoured to serve and support you and immensely proud of what you’ve achieved! 🥰

Hi everyone I’m afraid to say I need to cancel the class for this week. The house move was far worse than we expected and my poor body has not coped with working three days straight with yet more to do. I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but will be back next week. For those of you that have a class pass please forward the date by one week to save any confusion thank you all x

🍂 Autumn Equinox – Finding Balance 🍂

Today marks the Autumn Equinox – the moment in the year when day and night are equal. It’s a little reminder from nature about balance, and I think it’s a lovely time to pause and check in with ourselves.

As we shift into autumn, the pace of life can feel a bit different. The days get shorter, the air cooler, and our bodies often want slower, cosier routines. It’s the perfect season to lean into self-care and create balance in our own lives.

Here are some simple ideas you might try:

🕉️ Ground yourself – slower yoga flows, long stretches, and time spent really noticing your breath.

🕉️ Balance your energy – alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) is a great tool to bring calm and focus.

🕉️ Journal or reflect – ask yourself what you’ve “harvested” this year. What are you proud of? What lessons have you learned?

🕉️ Nourish your body – think warm drinks, hearty soups, and cosy blankets.

🕉️ Let go – just as the trees drop their leaves, it’s a lovely moment to think about what you no longer need to carry.

This time of year reminds us that balance doesn’t mean standing still — it’s about honouring both light and dark, activity and rest. So give yourself permission to slow down a little, breathe, and take care of you. 🍁
