Hypnosis tracks are powerful when preparing for labour šŸŽ§

But, they need to have been developed by a hypnotherapist to have the maximum effect as they will incorporate elements of hypnotherapy.

Bonus point if they are recorded in your hypnobirthing teachers voice too as you will have an association with that person, a connection and trust.

Let me know if you used hypnosis tracks during labour, did they work for you?

Remember to head to my website to read my birth and baby blog, there’s some many tips on there.

5 things to do when you start maternity leave so that you’re whole focus isn’t on your due date

1/ Book things in your diary beyond your due date so that it doesn’t feel like a deadline (you don’t have to go far but book a nice meal in with your friends, go to the cinema etc).

2/ Ramp up the hypnobirthing practise, this is the perfect time to embrace your hypnosis tracks.

3/ Pop on your favourite tunes and have a little kitchen dance party, perfect to build them labour hormones and get baby into a good position

4/ Read some positive birth stories (there’s loads on my website)

5/ Save any funny TV programmes for this point in time, I can really recommend Last One Laughing on Prime. Laughter brings in the feel good hormone that helps with pain relief.

For an additional 5 things to do when you start maternity leave, head over to my website and read the full blog, number 7 is my personal favourite.

Hit save šŸ’¾. Birth plan or birth preferences, what ever you want to call them, they have power.

Even if you don’t hand it over to your midwife, the process of writing one with your birth partner means they fully understand what is important to you.

However, I do always recommend handing it to your midwife, it means they don’t have to bother you half as much as they can look at your plan instead.

Here’s 3 key sentences to add to your birth plan, I had both of these sentences on both of my birth plans.

Head over to my blog to find out how to structure and a write an effective birth plan.

Induced vs spontaneous labour

There’s lots of differences between the two, they are not the same labour and women often report a lot of differences.

Here’s just 1 of the big differences (I’m talking about hormonal induction here).

You can absolutely have a positive induction, there’s birth stories on my website that are proof of this, however I would strongly recommend that you have plenty of knowledge surrounding
Inductions and coping strategies with you to call upon should you need them.

I share so many tips over on my blog to
Help you prepare for a confident birth.

I have such a low pain threshold, no one thought I would ever give birth without an epidural.

But I did, I gave birth without any pain relief, even though I’m completely pathetic when it comes to pain.

Here’s how I managed to do it…

You don’t forget feelings like this.

I remember the excruciating anxiety, the feelings of dread, the worry and helplessness during that pregnancy.

But I also remember the feelings of pride, accomplishment and empowerment when I gave birth to my daughter on my own terms, against all the odds, I did it.

Head over to my blog to read the full story of my pregnancy anxiety and how I went on to have the most incredible birth.

And remember that if you are struggling right now being pregnant, you’re not alone, my DM’s are always open.

Using essential oils in labour? 🌿 Let’s talk about the mistakes many women don’t realise they’re making and how to avoid them.

I hear so many women using essential oils wrong during labour but they can be so powerful, never underestimate the difference they can make to your birth.

Here are 5 things that you might want to consider before using oils.

Did you use essential oils for birth? Did they help?

To this day, 2 years later, the smell of lavender, rose and frankincense combined still makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

Come join me on a hypnobirthing course, whether you live locally or anywhere in the world, I can support you.

Send me a DM for a chat or head to my website to find out more.

Please make sure you use essential oils safely and get in touch with an aromatherapist if you need any help.

Perineal massage is all well and good but…

There is some evidence that it helps to minimise the chance of a severe tear but don’t make the mistake of giving the massage your all but then forgetting to do these simple but effective things during labour, I’ve listed 5 here and there’s another 5 to consider over on my blog, the link to read why I didn’t do perineal massage in either of my labours is in my bio:

🤰 Stay active (sway, pace, walk, dance). Keep the perineal tissue moving.

šŸ’§ Use water (either a pool, shower, bath, hot compress)

šŸ§˜šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Breathe - so simple but it helps to keep your body relaxed

šŸš¶šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøConsider upright positions if possible and it feels right for you

🄤 Drink water and stay hydrated

There’s so many other things you can consider too, I’ve popped them all down in my blog (link in bio)

Let me know your thoughts on perineal massage in the comments, did you do it? Did it help?
