Did you see the Channel 4 documentary, “Live Well With The Drug-Free Doctor”?

If you have chronic pain, it’s a must-watch for you! They showcase Pain Reprocessing Therapy as a successful treatment for chronic pain, when all physical and drug treatments have failed.

Here at Castleford Physio, we use Pain Reprocessing Therapy for some of our chronic pain patients, with great results.

💥 3 Mistakes Keeping You Stuck in Chronic Pain 💥

1. Believing Pain Always Means Damage

“If it hurts, something must be wrong with my spine.”
This belief keeps people afraid to move. But with chronic pain, the tissues have usually healed — the brain’s alarm system just hasn’t switched off yet.

👉 Movement is safe. You’re not broken; your system is overprotective.

2. Treating Only the Body, Not the Brain

Most people stretch, strengthen, or get endless treatments — but never address the fear, stress, or threat perception driving their pain.

👉 Chronic pain lives in both the body and the nervous system. You have to re-train both.

3. Fighting or Avoiding Pain Instead of Reprocessing It

Trying to “fix” or “push through” pain keeps your brain in danger mode.

👉 The key is to change your relationship with pain — learn to view it as safe signals that can calm down. That’s what Pain Reprocessing Therapy teaches.

If you’ve tried everything for your back and nothing’s worked, it might be time to retrain your brain, not just your muscles. That’s exactly what I teach in my new course.

Today we welcomed Mike all the way from
Hull, over 40 miles from the clinic. Mike had seen our socials and was interested in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) as he had tried physio, chiropractor, and even spinal injections in the past, all with limited relief.

However, when I assessed him, it was clear there was a physical reason for his pain, massively tight hamstrings amongst other things, which simply had not been addressed by previous therapists or doctors.

So we have started a treatment plan which differs from what he has had before, and I am confident he will see improvement in the coming weeks, as he is making the 80 mile round trip again next week.

As physios, we are experts in diagnosing and treating pain and injury with the most appropriate method. And in Mike’s case, this is good old hands-on treatment and a targeted exercise programme. No PRT needed for him 😊.

Looking forward to seeing the results 😃

Physios are so underrated! But… this is actually what we do, in a nutshell 😃😊

I don’t give this woman enough air time on this page, I’m always hogging the limelight 🤣. But Kate is my wingwoman, a fantastic physio who works alongside me in the clinic and keeps the ship running when I am away, always providing an excellent, caring service for our patients.
Thank you, Kate, you’re a star 🌟
