Living with OCD can feel exhausting. Your body or mind is reacting in ways that feel out of your control.
Hypnotherapy can be an effective support by helping you to calm your nervous system and reduce those automatic stress responses that keep symptoms going.
I’ve worked with many clients who’ve found relief by addressing the mind–body connection, rather than just managing symptoms.
If you’d like to explore whether hypnotherapy could help you, you’re very welcome to get in touch for an initial chat. You can book that here - https://www.debbiewaller.com/contact

If you’re new here, welcome — I’m Debbie.
You’ll see from the header that I offer help with anxiety, panic and phobias (and other issues) both in-person in Castleford and online via Zoom. And because people often ask how to get started, I wanted to briefly explain how that works.
The first step to booking a therapy appointment is for us to chat. There’s no pressure and no expectation; it is simply a chance to talk things through, ask questions, and check whether hypnotherapy feels like the right option for you. This also allows me to make sure that what you’re dealing with is something I can help with.
Taking the decision to book therapy sessions should feel safe, unhurried, and considered. If you want to think about it for a while after we've spoken, that's fine. But if we both feel confident that I can help, you can book a therapy appointment during the call.

If you’d like to find out more, you can:

- read through the information on my website, www.debbiewaller.com

- book a discovery call by phone or on Zoom at a time that suits you https://zcal.co/debbiewaller

- give me a ring on 01977 678593.

A common myth about hypnotherapy is that it’s “just a placebo” and, as such, doesn't work.
In reality, hypnosis is a recognised therapeutic approach that works with focused attention and the part of your mind responsible for habits, emotional responses, and automatic patterns.
Of course, there' an element of placebo, just like any other therapy or even medicines. But research has shown hypnotherapy can be effective for issues like IBS, anxiety, and pain management. Placebo or not, the results speak for themselves.

Winter can quietly drain your energy. Shorter days, less daylight, colder weather, it all adds up, even if you’re feeling OK.
One simple tip for mental health at this time of year is to pace yourself a little more gently than usual. Fewer plans, more rest, and realistic expectations can make a big difference.
Winter isn’t the time to push harder; it’s a time to pace yourself and take it steady.

It’s my first day back after the holidays and I’m looking forward to getting back to seeing my clients and students!
If you need a reboot after your break, hypnotherapy can help. It supports focus, motivation, and a gentler shift back into routine without that heavy pressure to “hit the ground running.”
If you’d like a calmer start to the year, drop me a message and I’ll be happy to chat.

No need for grand resolutions this year.
Just choose one small thing that helps you feel grounded: a morning stretch, a five-minute pause, or drinking water before your day begins.
Small things are easier to keep up with, and they create the biggest ripple effects.

As the year draws to a close, it’s a natural time to pause and reflect. What small changes or habits would you like to carry forward into the next year?
Whether it’s calm routines, stronger boundaries, or more effective ways to support clients, my books offer practical tools you can start using right away. Anxiety to Calm, for example, provides small strategies that can help you and your clients enter the new year with steadier, calmer energy.
If you’re thinking about the year ahead, one of these books could be a helpful companion.

If you’re already thinking ahead to the new year and feeling a bit anxious about getting back into routine, you’re not alone.
Hypnotherapy can help your mind ease out of that “constant alert” mode and into something calmer and more manageable.
It doesn’t have to be dramatic — just steady, supportive change.
If you’re curious about how it works, feel free to message me or take a look at the information on my website, debbiewaller.com

Is Hypnosis Safe?

This is a really good question, but the answer is yes, for most people it is very safe if you work with a qualified and responsible practitioner. There are a few people hypnotherapy might not be right for. They include those who are diagnosed with a psychosis, major depression, or certain other medical conditions. In this case I might be able to work with you using coaching techniques or counselling instead. Get in touch and I can advise you. Hypnosis is not magical or ‘trippy’ as some people assume. It’s simply a state of focused attention a bit like being immersed in a task, book or film - or ‘zoning out’ when driving or in a boring meeting at work. But it is used for therapy because in that state you are much more likely to accept appropriately worded, positive suggestions. This makes it very effective in helping you change thought or behaviour patterns which are unhelpful.
