October marks World Menopause Day. The theme for 2025 is Lifestyle Medicine, as your daily choices around movement, nutrition, sleep, and stress can have a huge impact on how you feel during menopause and beyond.

Strength and weight-bearing exercise improve bone density, muscle strength, and joint health.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy helps manage bladder leakage, vaginal dryness, and pelvic discomfort.

Regular aerobic exercise supports
cardiovascular health, sleep, and mood regulation.

Balanced nutrition with adequate protein, calcium, and vitamin D supports bone and muscle health.

Stress reduction, mindfulness, and consistent sleep routines improve mental wellbeing and energy levels.

Dr Williams has a special interest in Menopause Care and holds additional qualifications from the British Menopause Society which can benefit our patients.

We are thrilled to announce that Dr Simmons successfully completed the IRONMAN at the World Championships in Hawaii. She reports:

“I feel so incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to take part in the 2025 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. What an experience!

The conditions on the day were absolutely brutal - 40°C heat, strong winds, 90% humidity, and even shark sightings during the swim! My goal was to finish and to make myself proud... and I did just that — 46th in the world and 1st British lady in my age group with a time of 11:35.”

Congratulations Dr Simmons from everyone at Henry Moore, we are so proud of you! 👏👏👏👏

Athletes complete these three disciplines in succession, within a 17-hour time limit, to earn the title of “Ironman”.

Pregnancy care (also called antenatal care) is the care you have while you’re pregnant to help keep you and your baby as healthy as possible.

When you find out you are pregnant, you can refer yourself for NHS pregnancy care so you start care with a midwife right away.

Once you sign up online, the maternity team will contact you to book your first appointment with a midwife.

You should do this by the 10th week of pregnancy, if possible, but it’s never too late to start. If you’re over 10 weeks, refer yourself as soon as you can.

You do not usually need to see a GP. If you’re registered with a GP, they’ll be told about your pregnancy after your first midwife appointment.

Search ‘NHS maternity referral’.
