Ten strategies for coping with stress

1. Organise your time
Prioritise tasks and focus on one thing at a time. Break big problems into smaller steps and keep a daily routine.

2. Reduce the pressure
Make time for yourself each day and take regular breaks. Step outside, rest, and use your holidays to recharge.

3. Take control
Tackle problems where you can and accept what you can’t change. Set realistic expectations and communicate with others if demands are too high.

4. Get a good night’s sleep
Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep. Good rest improves focus, mood, and resilience.

5. Look after your health
Exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, and limit caffeine, alcohol, and smoking.

6. Take time to relax
Use relaxation techniques like breathing exercises, mindfulness, or yoga. Slow down and try new activities you enjoy.

7. Stay connected
Keep in touch with friends, family, and colleagues. Strong relationships support wellbeing.

8. Talk to someone
Don’t bottle things up—sharing your thoughts can ease stress and bring new perspectives.

9. Use positive self-talk
Challenge negative thoughts and be kind to yourself. Focus on positives and what’s going well.

10. Try a digital detox
Reduce screen time, especially before bed. It can improve sleep and lower stress.
