We had fun with a creative collage-making session focused on hobbies with the residents, allowing them to express their interests and passions visually. Using magazines, coloured paper, and art supplies, everyone crafted vibrant collages that showcased their favourite pastimes. As they worked, residents shared stories about their hobbies, sparking lively conversations and connections. This engaging activity celebrated individuality amongst our residents!

Residents enjoyed a wonderful time with their families at our annual summer party this year! The weather was perfect, allowing everyone to sit outside in our garden and appreciate the carnival-themed entertainment we had arranged. A big thank you to Steve for the delicious food, which was a hit with everyone! Families also had a great time participating in various games, such as Velcro darts and Hook a Duck. Congratulations to the winners of Bingo, a fantastic way to celebrate the summer season!

Once a month our residents choose a country for culture day and Spain was recently chosen! We tasted some lovely Spanish snacks, decorated the lounge with bright red and yellow balloons and listened to some Spanish music! Denny, our local music performer, was also here and played some Spanish songs on his guitar, which had some of us dancing through the evening!

The residents got busy experimenting with a new art activity that involved toilet rolls! We created beautiful flowers from toilet rolls which were cut at the end in different shapes to create an illusion of petals whilst dipping them into a tray of colourful paint. This was then printed onto paper and the residents drew on the leaves and stalks. It was a really nice new activity which was fun and unique.

This month we got creative in our flower arranging session! We had some beautiful Sweet Williams which paired well with some brightly coloured Tulips! Everybody enjoyed getting to choose a flower vase to place their flower display into which was then placed in their rooms to admire. This activity involved a lot of concentration, creation and hand-eye coordination.

These bowls are now in our residents’ rooms holding various items such as jewellery, coins and sweets. This activity involved some hand-eye coordination and the residents found it relaxing and therapeutic kneading the clay.

We have been alerting you of Postbox toppers we have spotted around the country, well what about kitted pillars? These were spotted in Broadfield Crawley. These knitted finds had so much detail on them, they were so cleverly made. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for any other knitted features you may see.

The crepe, a French dessert, consists of a sauce made from caramelised sugar and butter, orange zest, and Grand Marnier. Its origin is contested; one story suggests it was accidentally created by a 14-year-old assistant waiter while preparing a dessert for the future King Edward VII, whose guests included a beautiful French girl named Suzette. Steve showed how to prepare this tantalizing dish, filling the lounge with an incredible aroma. The residents had the opportunity to taste the finest pancakes in town.
