🚨 Know the Signs of Meningitis – Early Action Saves Lives 🚨

At Platinum Medical, based in North Yorkshire, we want to help keep our community informed and safe.

While there is currently a reported outbreak in Kent, meningitis can affect anyone, anywhere. That’s why it’s so important to recognise the symptoms early and act fast.

🧠 What is meningitis?
A serious condition where the protective layers around the brain and spinal cord become inflamed. It can become life-threatening very quickly.

⚠️ Key symptoms to watch for:
• Fever
• Severe headache
• Vomiting
• Stiff neck
• Sensitivity to light
• Confusion or difficulty concentrating
• Drowsiness or difficulty waking
• Seizures (fits)
• A rash that does NOT fade when pressed

⚠️ It can also lead to septicaemia (blood poisoning), with symptoms like:
• Cold hands and feet
• Limb pain
• Pale or blotchy skin
• Rapid breathing
• Severe weakness or collapse

⏱️ Symptoms can worsen in a matter of hours, so don’t wait for all signs to appear.

👉 If you are worried about yourself, your child, or someone else – seek medical help immediately.

🚑 Investing in Better Care for Your Events 🚑

At Platinum Medical, we are committed to continually raising the standard of care we provide at events. We’re proud to share that several members of our team have recently completed their accredited Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication course.

This qualification allows these staff to carry and safely administer certain lifesaving medications when required, enabling them to act immediately when a patient needs urgent treatment.

In many situations, this means critical care can begin on scene well before an NHS emergency ambulance arrives, ensuring patients receive faster, safer and more effective medical support.

For event organisers, this provides an additional layer of reassurance that your attendees are in the hands of a team trained to deliver rapid, professional and proactive medical care when it matters most.

At Platinum Medical, we’re always investing in our people so we can provide the highest level of event medical cover possible.

Last year’s post-race survey came back at 4.8 / 5 ⭐️ pretty impressive for our inaugural event. We were buzzing… but we also listened 👀

One thing you told us loud and clear:
👉 we massively underestimated hot food demand. Our lovely pizza guy sold out within HOURS 🍕💨

So for 2026 we’ve levelled up.

You’ll still have cocktails Puddings & Prosecco, beer Yorkshire Dales Brewing Company Limited and Pizza Skinny Guys Pizza but now we’ve got something a little bit special to announce.

If you ran last year you’ll remember passing the little van at Easby cheered on by the friendly legends from The Easby-Loop Café Well… they’re officially taking over the café facilities at Brompton-on-Swale Holiday Park and we couldn’t be happier.

That means:

🍔 Smash burgers
🍟 Loaded fries
🥓 Breakfast buns
🍰 cakes
☕ Hot drinks

Originally we were planning a burger van + morning breakfast setup, now we’ve basically got the best of both worlds and then some.

Important bit for runners:
As always, this is a self-fuelled endurance event, we provide basic runner snacks at basecamp, but runners must plan their own nutrition. The café is perfect for crews/supporters to grab food, or for runners once they’ve tapped out and can finally face real food again 😅
