Are our experiences Good or Bad?

"It's hard to say." - May be a wise response.

This Video encourages society to take a more open attitude about disabilities.

Despite how things in life might first appear, our experiences may be blessings.

As a mother of a daughter with a genetic condition, Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome,
Heather Lanier questions societies assumptions about what makes a life "good" or "bad."

She challenges us to stop fixating on solutions for whatever we deem not "normal", and instead to take life as it comes. Praising individuals who may don't see differences as problems to fix. Who may acknowledge limitations but they also see strengths and celebrate others for who they are.

The goal is to simply to promote independence as much as possible. To fulfill ones potential. However that may look.

Heather Lanier's daughter Fiona has Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a genetic condition that results in developmental delays -- but that doesn't make her tragic, a...

Black Beauty - Lupita Nyong'o's Speech

Black Lives Matter - Changing our cultural narrative.

The recent Black Lives Matter Movement has refocused our awareness of the need to encourage cultural change on many levels.

One of the ways I believe we can support this, is to help to change the narrative in Western culture. By encouraging more compassion to the experience of black people who have been under represented in many ways and so are less likely to feel accepted by wider society.

I hope on a societal level we can have an increase in compassion, empathy, representation, acceptance and support for black people.

"You can't eat beauty. You can't rely on how you look to sustain you. What actually sustains us, what is fundamentally beautiful, is compassion. For yourself, and for the people around you. That kind of beauty enflames the heart and enchants the soul."

Gratitude

Stop and look - just as we did as children.

One thing all humans have in common is that each of us wants to be happy, says David Steindl-Rast, a monk and interfaith scholar. Happiness, he suggests, is born from gratitude. An inspiring lesson in slowing down and being grateful.

The one thing all humans have in common is that each of us wants to be happy, says Brother David Steindl-Rast, a monk and interfaith scholar. And happiness, ...
