Well it's been a busy week at Clutter Free Me

Fiona has been sorting out shed and garages ahead of the change in weather as well as resetting Airbnbs aheas of the bank holiday weekend - which is due to be scorchio sunny☀️

I've packed away winter clothes (decluttering while I go obviously) and had the privilege of working with this wonderful human - a budding professional organiser in the making - here she is explaining for us all, how to fold anything with hood!

Give it a try

🧣 10 Minute Declutter Challenge — Winter Hats, Scarves & Gloves 🧤

Now that the weather is finally turning, many of us will be thinking about packing away the winter clothes… and honestly, this is one of the BEST times to declutter at the same time.

Why store things for another year that you didn’t even use this winter… or maybe even the year before?

Before you pack everything away, gather all your winter woollies together:
• Hats
• Scarves
• Gloves
• Snoods
• Ear warmers

Then ask yourself:
✨ Did I actually wear this?
✨ Does it still suit my style?
✨ Is it comfortable?
✨ Does it still smell fresh after being stored?

We all know that musty “been in storage too long” smell some winter items end up with. If it needs freshening up — wash it before storing. But if you avoided wearing it all winter anyway… maybe it’s time to let it go.

And let’s be honest for a second… do we really need a new hat, scarf or pair of gloves every winter? We’re not talking specialist ski gear or outdoor workwear here — just everyday winter woollies.

If it went with an outfit you no longer wear, let it go.
If it’s scratchy, uncomfortable or never gets chosen, let it go.
If you forgot you even owned it until today… let it go.

Keep in the forefront of your mind that the goal is to reclaim your space — not simply find new ways to store more things.

Pack away only the pieces you genuinely love, wear and feel good in, and next winter you’ll thank yourself when everything is neat, easy to find and clutter free ✨

☕ 10 Minute Decluttering Challenge: Tea, Coffee… What’s Your Poison?
Right… time to be honest.
What’s really lurking in that tea and coffee cupboard of yours?
You know the one…
The cupboard where good intentions go to die.
The one packed with half-used boxes, mystery sachets, festive coffees, herbal teas nobody actually drinks, and enough tea bags to survive a national emergency.
So… own up:
☕ Have you got boxes of herbal tea “for visitors”… even though every visitor asks for a regular builders’ tea anyway?
🍵 Bought loose-leaf tea because it felt sophisticated… but don’t actually own a teapot, infuser, strainer, or any clue how to brew it?
😴 Purchased chamomile because someone swore it would help you sleep… but it tastes like warm grass and did absolutely nothing?
🎄 Still hanging onto that novelty Christmas coffee someone bought you because “it smells amazing”… but you secretly hate it?
🫖 Got tea bags so old they’re basically compost?
If you’re nodding… today is your day.
Your 10 Minute Challenge:
⏰ Set your timer for 10 minutes.
Then:
✔ Take everything out of the cupboard
✔ Check expiry dates
✔ Be honest about what you actually drink
✔ Keep only what you genuinely use and enjoy
✔ Group teas, coffees, hot chocolate, sugars and extras together
✔ Bin anything stale, open, damp, or past its best
And here’s the good bit…
💚 Anything sealed, in date, and perfectly usable can be donated.
Drop it into supermarket donation points, local community pantries, or food banks where it can genuinely make a difference.
Because clutter in your cupboard could be comfort in someone else’s.
Remember… we’re not organising clutter.
We’re making space for what actually gets used.
Now… go and face The Beverage Cupboard of Doom.
And tell us…
👇 What’s the strangest tea or coffee you found hiding in yours?

✨ BIG NEWS FROM US AT Clutter Free Me Hampshire✨

You may have noticed a few changes around here over the weekend… and we’re finally ready to shout it from the rooftops…

**Clutter Free Me has officially become a sister business.** 💚

After years of helping families reclaim their homes, reduce overwhelm and create calmer spaces… we’ve decided it was time to join forces.

Colette has been proudly helping individuals and families declutter across Hampshire for over 8 years, whilst Fiona has been busy working her organising magic throughout Kent with *In Its Place.*

Different counties… same passion.
Same values.
Same warm, practical, completely judgement-free approach.

Because we both know that a little hands-on help doesn’t just transform a home… it can transform how someone *feels* too.

So it felt only right to bring our experience, energy and shared passion together under one roof.

You’ll notice a fresh new look here on the page, a brand new website, and plenty more of what you already know and love—top tips, honest chats, practical advice and of course our much-loved **10 Minute Decluttering Challenges.**

To every single person who has supported us, recommended us, invited us into your homes, shared our posts or cheered us on… **thank you. Truly.**

Word of mouth will always mean the world to us… but in today’s digital world, Google matters too!

So if you’ve worked with Colette through Clutter Free Me Hampshire, Fiona through In Its Place, or you’ve simply enjoyed following our decluttering challenges, we’d be incredibly grateful if you could leave us a Google review here 👇

We love sharing decluttering finds and today raised a giggle - this clients daughter had been drawing labels to make sure everyone knows where items live - what do you think we're putting in here? 🤣

Organisational tip for you today!

I can not stress the benefits of matching hangers enough - it may sound simple but it really is oh so pleasing - this simple switch will allow you to save space (if you choose the right hangers), take better care of your garments & have something joyous to look at every time you open your wardrobe 😁

While your at it, hang like with like so you can see exactly what you have. Oh and if you colour coordinate too you really are in for a treat.

These cream hangers were on special from Alfie too £2.99 for 20 - now that's a proper bargain!

If your looking for brighter and more colour choice, TK Maxx is usually a good bet too.

What a gorgeous few weeks it’s been here at Clutter Free HQ 🌿

I’ve been out and about helping transform gardens and outdoor spaces, getting everything feeling fresh, calm and ready for spring (and a hopeful summer just around the corner).

Over the holidays, I’ve also had the chance to work with some brilliant kids — and honestly, I love it. Getting children involved in decluttering can be such a game-changer. Give them a role, a little responsibility, and suddenly the whole process feels lighter… even fun (with just a tiny bit of strategic distraction thrown in).

Of course, it’s not always straightforward — especially when letting go feels like a big ask. But it *can* be done. And more than that, it’s such a valuable life skill. When children see *why* we declutter — creating space, calm, and room to think — it starts to click.

Shift the focus from “what are we getting rid of?” to “what do we really love?” — and everything changes.

If you’re feeling a bit stuck and need a gentle nudge to get started, I’m here to help. Just drop me a message.

🕒 10 Minute Declutter Challenge: Tea Towels Edition

Be honest… how many tea towels do you actually have?
If you’re thinking “not that many” but you’ve got three drawers and an overstuffed cupboard that say otherwise… this one’s for you.

In the average kitchen we seem to collect:

The obligatory ones the kids made at school for the PTA (too cute to use, too guilty to throw)

The gifted ones (Christmas, birthdays, secret Santa… every year adds more)

The funny slogan ones (that were funny once…)

The holiday destination ones (souvenir of a great trip, now wiping up pasta water)

The ones so soiled they need boiling after every use

The ones that don’t actually dry anything

And the ones where the fabric makes your skin crawl when you touch them 😬

Your 10-Minute Mission:

Get them all out. Yes, all of them. Drawer, cupboard, back of the door, that random basket.

Sort into 3 piles:

Actually use & like

Sentimental but never used

Why is this even in my house?

Be ruthless with:

Ones that smell even after washing

Ones that don’t dry

Ones you actively avoid touching

Keep only what you genuinely need for your household (hint: it’s way fewer than you think).

Reflective Question:

If these weren’t already in your house… would you choose to buy them today? It's ok that your tastes change.

So this week, set your timer for 10 minutes and free your kitchen from towel overwhelm.
Then tell me: how many did you start with, and how many survived?
I promise, no one has ever said “I wish I’d kept more old tea towels.” 😉

Any brand new unused ones will happily be accepted at charity shops. Check with your local charity shop if they will accept any others for their 'rag bag' but make sure you check first and keep them separate and clearly labeled.
