About Me:
After many years of struggling with my own weight, nutrition and related symptoms, I began a journey that led me to lose three stone as well as the related health issues. I had so much more energy and had discovered a lot about nutrition. Friends and family started to ask how I had done it and could I help them? I then decided to train and qualify as a Nutritional Therapist. A few months after this, I was faced with a particularly stressful period at work and home. I was introduced to the Control System and attended a Control workshop. Coming away after one day, totally relaxed and in control, I made a decision. I went on to study and qualify as a Control Practitioner and Remedial Hypnotist! During and shortly after this time, I had began to change peoples lives and help them feel in control, balanced and happy again. Taking away stress, fear of heights, anxiety, stopping people from smoking, losing weight and many more. Finally a great opportunity arose. My holistic approach to client care and local knowledge was partnered with an offer to work with, and at, the Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic. Control and Change was born. The clinic is conveniently located at the Lordswood Leisure Centre in Chatham, in the heart of the medway towns and close to the M2 junction 3. Easy links from Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Gravesend and Canterbury and a short hop from Junction 6 of the M20 and Blue Bell Hill from Maidstone, Ashford and surrounding areas. The centre is situated in a quiet country setting overlooking 20 acres of playing fields, with free parking for over 100 cars and disabled access. Regular local buses (166, 167 & 701) stop around half a mile from the Centre.

A recent insomnia client sent me this:
“Last night I had no relaxation music through the night (not been without that for 10 plus years) and I was fine. Been sleeping well thanks to you. I am feeling grateful for the improvement”.
Your mind responds to how you speak to it.

Criticism = more resistance
Encouragement = more forward motion

👉 That’s not weakness
👉 That’s your mind trying to protect you

Thankful Thursday?
Let’s take a moment to notice something…

Your mind is a bit like a child.
It responds to praise, encouragement, and kindness.

Think about when a child shows you their drawing…
A five-legged dog, a purple horse 😄

You don’t criticise it.
You don’t point out what’s wrong.
👉 You smile
👉 You praise it
👉 You stick it on the fridge

…and what happens?
They want to do more.

So what if you did the same with your mind?

Instead of:
“I should’ve done that better…”
“That wasn’t good enough…”
“Why can't I stop being anxious?”

Try:
👉 “I’m pleased I showed up”
👉 “I really enjoyed doing that”
👉 “I was calm and relaxed”

Why it matters:
This is how you build:
Confidence
Momentum
Self Esteem

Not through pressure… but encouragement.
Trust your mind and it will trust you.

What did you learn about yourself this week?
Not just what you did…
But how you felt, reacted, or maybe held yourself back.

Here’s something powerful:
Your mind is always learning.

If you avoid something (recording a video, a social event, public speaking)…
your mind learns:
👉 “That worked. Let’s do that again next time.”
…and that’s how anxiety, overthinking & imposter syndrome grow.

What if you got curious instead?
👉 “What if this goes better than I expect?”
👉 “What if I can handle this?”
👉 “What if this is actually… enjoyable?”
Curiosity invites the mind to wonder without fear.
Even a small shift in the language can change the answers.
What if….this was the new What if?!

Monday Motivation

👉 It’s the anticipation and overthinking around it

Your mind is trying to prepare you… but it goes too far.

🎯 Try this today:
👉 Focus on the next small step, not the whole event
👉 Slow your breathing (in for 4, out for 6)
👉 Remind yourself: “I’ve handled things like this before”

You don’t need to feel 100% confident…

When working with the mind I sometimes encounter one last barrier to completing the task….Change Is Scary! The mind can find it a little scary and hold back for a moment. To resolve this I always say the same thing….Change IS Scary, but never changing is terrifying.

This is the same with new clients when beginning to reach out for help and support. I gently remind them that a comfort zone keeps us safe, secure and … comfortable. Therefore by definition, out of that is….uncomfortable.

One thing is for sure though…..we have been there before. When we changed jobs, took a driving test, rode a bike, the first filing or tooth out. When it passed we had new experiences, new strength and new knowledge. The comfort zone had expanded and change was made.

Every anxiety challenge you have faced has eventually reached a stage where you are now telling others how you overcame it.

Every one of your stories in some way has had some degree of workable ending...because you are still here!!

This doesn’t mean everything will work out for the best...we all have examples of when things haven’t worked out the way we wanted...but everything worked out in some way.

You might not know how to solve the next one, but you know you most likely will. Then you will be telling people about that solution and how you once again achieved some kind of an ending to this story.
