About Me:
After many years of struggling with my own weight, nutrition and related symptoms, I began a journey that led me to lose three stone as well as the related health issues. I had so much more energy and had discovered a lot about nutrition. Friends and family started to ask how I had done it and could I help them? I then decided to train and qualify as a Nutritional Therapist. A few months after this, I was faced with a particularly stressful period at work and home. I was introduced to the Control System and attended a Control workshop. Coming away after one day, totally relaxed and in control, I made a decision. I went on to study and qualify as a Control Practitioner and Remedial Hypnotist! During and shortly after this time, I had began to change peoples lives and help them feel in control, balanced and happy again. Taking away stress, fear of heights, anxiety, stopping people from smoking, losing weight and many more. Finally a great opportunity arose. My holistic approach to client care and local knowledge was partnered with an offer to work with, and at, the Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic. Control and Change was born. The clinic is conveniently located at the Lordswood Leisure Centre in Chatham, in the heart of the medway towns and close to the M2 junction 3. Easy links from Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Gravesend and Canterbury and a short hop from Junction 6 of the M20 and Blue Bell Hill from Maidstone, Ashford and surrounding areas. The centre is situated in a quiet country setting overlooking 20 acres of playing fields, with free parking for over 100 cars and disabled access. Regular local buses (166, 167 & 701) stop around half a mile from the Centre.

Feeling anxious because you’re not well?
It happens to so many people, that sudden guilt about letting work down, not being able to help with the kids, or worrying you might pass something on to an elderly relative.

But here’s the thing…being unwell isn’t a failure. It’s not you being unreliable. It’s simply your body asking for what it needs.

You don’t have a crystal ball. You can’t see the future. And you can’t control every single thing around you, only your responses.

Resting when you’re sick isn’t selfish. It’s responsible. It protects you and the people you care about.

So today, try telling yourself: “Healing is progress. Resting is sensible. I’m doing the best I can.”

Because when the guilt softens, the anxiety eases… doesn’t it?

Imposter syndrome loves to whisper, doesn’t it?
Telling you everyone is watching, judging, analysing…
when in reality most people are too busy worrying about their own stuff.

And here’s a little personal moment from me:
For the last few years I’ve wanted to go to the UK Hypnosis Convention.
Every year, I talked myself out of it, too busy, not ready, maybe next time.
Truth is… I chickened out.

This morning, I’m going!
Mentors, heroes, inspiring people, the whole lot.
The nerves are still there… and so is excitement!

Maybe that’s your reminder today.
You don’t need to feel ready.
And who knows…when you take that next step, you might just find the people you were worried about judging you are actually rooting for you.

We all know we should talk, rest, breathe, move…and yet so many men push through silently, hoping things will sort themselves out.

This Movember, let’s make it about more than moustaches.
Let’s make it about action.

Check in with a mate.
Go for that walk.
Have that conversation.

Because understanding stress, anxiety or low mood means nothing if you never give yourself permission to do something different.

What stress is really trying to tell you.

Anxiety. Stress. Panic.
They’re not just words, they’re messages from your mind and body that something’s out of balance.

This week is International Stress Awareness Week, and according to the International Stress Management Association, stress happens when the pressure placed on you exceeds your ability to cope.

And yet, when you understand stress, it becomes something you can manage, not something that manages you.

You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel better. Sometimes it’s one breath. One pause. One decision to stop fighting yourself and start supporting yourself.

Anxiety. Stress. Panic.

They make everything feel harder than it needs to be, don’t they?
We push, we overthink, we try to fix everything at once, and end up exhausted, still chasing calm.

When we’re anxious, we complicate things that are already working. We add steps, tricks, and tension… instead of letting things flow.

Real change doesn’t come from adding more. It comes from simplifying what already works.

When you stop working harder and start working lighter, your mind softens, your body follows and peace becomes something you can actually feel again.

When Anxiety builds the walls, Depression turns down the lights.

You’ve probably heard that anxiety and depression often go hand in hand. I often describe anxiety as the architect, it sketches out the plans, layer by layer, building walls of worry and self-doubt.

When those walls grow too high, depression moves in, quietly dimming the lights inside.

Depression doesn’t always shout. Sometimes it’s just a heavy kind of silence, that numb feeling where you can’t see the point, can’t feel the spark, and the idea of “happiness” feels almost abstract. It’s not laziness. It’s not weakness. It’s the mind stuck in neutral, unsure where the road even begins again.

….and yet, somewhere within that stillness, a small part of you is still searching, isn’t it? Searching for a way forward… a flicker of light to help you remember that things can change.

Because once you find that first flicker, a single small action, a kind word, a gentle breath, that’s where motivation begins. Motivation, even in tiny doses, leads to momentum.

If you’re there right now, please don’t wait for everything to feel right before you start. Just choose one simple thing, stand up, open the curtains, take a breath, send a message, go outside, ask for help. When you take that one step, however small, the next step becomes a little easier, doesn’t it?
