MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine. It protects against measles, mumps, rubella - and now chickenpox.

Vaccination is the best way to reduce the risk of serious illness and protect children as they grow.

Your GP will be in touch when your child is due their appointment

This World Cancer Day, we’re highlighting mouth cancer, one of the fastest‑rising cancers in the UK. Many cases are spotted late, but early detection saves lives.

Know the early signs:
β€’ Ulcers not healed after 3 weeks
β€’ Lumps, swelling, or thickening
β€’ Persistent soreness
β€’ Red or white patches
β€’ Unexplained changes to speech, swallowing, or bite

If something feels unusual, get it checked. Regular dental visits help catch problems early.

Cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, can also affect the mouth by damaging healthy cells, reducing saliva, weakening immunity, irritate oral tissues, cause dry mouth, and increase infection and dental problems.

This can make it harder to eat, speak, swallow, and maintain oral hygiene, so seeing your dentist is essential. Early dental support reduces complications and helps people stay well throughout treatment.

Together, let’s close the care gap and make oral health a routine part of cancer care.

Children under 6 are now being offered the MMRV vaccine instead of MMR as part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme.

This replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.

You don’t need to do anything β€” your GP will contact you when your child is due.
