MIC Mental Health

MIC Mental Health MIC is a mental health organisation with a difference. Our ethos is to be fully inclusive. We will also appoint two visitors a year to be on our trustee board.

Provide a safe space for those struggling with mental health or wellbeing within Medway

Provide activities and things to do that others in the community aren't providing
To work co-productively with other mental health organisations within the local area to make sure their is not a copy of work

To promote positive opportunities in the local area

To provide support to the LGBTQ+ Community

To sp

eak out on issues affecting our visitors (this will be done via our podcast, which will be starting soon)

To be a mental health support to those struggling with Domestic Abuse or Violence and promote equality within that making sure our support is tailored to all and recognising that abuse is not exclusive to any gender

Ethos:
MIC stands for Mindful Insight Charity. Our current team is fully diverse and we have team members of different sexual preferences and identity with a wide variety of genders including trans and non-binary representation on our senior management team. Everybody in our structure must have empathy and compassion for those with mental health issues. Our trustees will be made up of political representatives across the spectrum and also managers of various mental health teams. Our ethos is to fully listen to those with mental health or wellbeing issues as they are well-versed to be able to say what the needs are, as opposed to someone reading it from a book with no personal experience behind them.

Statement from the Co-CEO's on the Supreme Court UK ruling:

We as an organisation and both of us as CEO's are deeply concerned about today's ruling by the Supreme Court. This leaves transgender and nonbinary people without a right to exist or use public facilities.

The fight for trans rights is very real and the implications of today's ruling further the need for protest and education to fight discrimination.

The Supreme Court and the Government have been led by people spreading malicious and false information.

We as an organisation, even once set up will always support the WHOLE Trans Community and we want to give a thanks to the political parties who are showing support to the WHOLE LGBT+ community.

In Medway, this is only the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party.

We strongly urge Medway Pride to continue Pride as a protest as it originally is and focus this year on the Trans Community and as other Pride Events have done ban Labour and all parties that have shown discrimination against the LGBT+ Community from attending in their parties and strengthen the voices of the political parties (some may not have enough money to sponsor) but show off those parties. This is the only way to get Labour to listen.

We both, as members of the community want to show solidarity.

If anyone is struggling with today's news please use:

This is your yearly reminder that this season is difficult for some people.

- Check on your friends/family members who are struggling.

- Please allow someone time if you think they may be struggling in the excruciating busy high streets/shops/public transport.

- DO NOT FILM ANYONE WHO MAY BE STRUGGLING. There have been points where it has been noticed, people film someone when they are with the police or someone clearly struggling that idiots find "amusing". It might be a welfare/mental health call - DO NOT FILM.

If you are struggling yourself, please reach out for help.

If you know someone struggling with Domestic Abuse and has cat's they don't want to leave with their abuser, Cats Protection have set up Lifeline which has foster cat parents who will look after their fur baby while in a refuge.

This is available in Medway and across Kent aswell as other areas.

Please make sure this is info is shared.

Lifeline is also looking for cat foster carers. As you can see from the photo, Onyx is disqualified from being a foster carer as they have two kittens already (they already looked at the qualifications because this is definitely something needed).
